What have you discovered?

Featured Replies

If you have the PID it displays if the doors are open, also if you're able to drive around in the dark not realising you've not turned your lights on.. well I don't know because everything on the dash and consoles aren't illuminated until the lights are on, personally I tend to ignore the fact I have DRL's on and use my headlights where ever appropriate

Clearly, I don't have the PID.

The dash IS illuminated until it goes dark. Under street lighting with DRLs already on, it can be easily overlooked, was my point.

I've discovered getting rid of my Citigo was the worst thing I could have done :(

  • I believe it's because the music is only silenced so you can hear the bleeps from the sensors, not so you can concentrate.

  • Because the parcel shelf is not attached to the tailgate with cords you have to lift it manually and it stays up for access to the boot. BUT for about a month I continuously forgot to lower it, got b

I also find the car has incredibly large blind spots: especially for such a small car. The first thing I bought for it, on the first day, were blindspot mirrors, when I suddenly saw car pull out of one of the blind spots as I was about to overtake!

Look over your shoulder?

Look over your shoulder?

Look over the shoulder? That's overrated

Seriously when I was being taught how to drive I was never told to check over my shoulder, I should probably mention I always do a shoulder check and what I said what was a joke :D

I find the visibility fine, but yes, always a "lifesaver" to double check. 20 years of cycling in London have that effect!

Obviously, I do look over my shoulder, yet it's possible for an entire car to be completely hidden in the blind spot.

However, this concerns me when it comes to reversing, especially since pedestrians (adults and children alike) are seemingly of the opinion that a driver has 360º vision and can check all of his/her mirrors and blind spots all of the time.

In fact, I've even had difficulty engaging eye contact with a pedestrian who was waiting to cross, to signal that I'd seen and stopped for them.

What have I discovered? Well having been away all week on business Ives discovered my mrs would rather use my citigo than her mazda5 lol.

Last weekend while vacuuming the car I could stick the attachment between the door and the seat. Could not do this on my old fabia as the gap was to narrow meaning bits were left.

Where about? Do you mean the side mirrors when looking for cars behind you? could you expand on that please?

If you put a heavy box on the passenger seat, a sensor somewhere thinks you have a passenger not wearing a belt and  the warning light dings at you in  a variety of annoying tones!

I really don't get this visual display malarky, but maybe that's because I'm old grey and grumpy!.

When we test drove the yeti it had parking sensors, and the display.

I use mirrors to reverse and whilst I like the sound of the beepers the last thing I want to do is look at the dash.

How would you know, if you were reversing into a space with beepers going, that a person suddenly decided to run past the back of the car.

Plus there can be other obstructions above the line of the sensors that may need to be taken into consideration.

I suppose it gives nervous passengers something to look at.

My concern is that we are all being dumbed down.

People seem to have lost the ability to navigate without the aid of a GPS, the ability to read a map is lost on a whole bunch of people under 30.... /Rant>

I do agree. I don't have parking sensors on mine and I can parallel park like a pro (if I do say so myself). I also can navigate with a MAP if required but GPS is convenient.

I ran a feed from the interior light to the boot and fitted a couple of Ocavia boot lights (with LED's) works great as it lights up when the boot is open.

I discovered that the engine shakes so much it makes a brilliant massager

Aww how long will it be till you can chop the rapid in for a monte?

I discovered that if I get a good run on the way home from work, I can get the MPG on the PID up to 74mpg average door to door! Range is showing 500 miles for the tank.

Long time. I'm in negative equity on the Rapid quite a bit. It's only 10 months old and too early to change. I've already tried to get a Silver Monte but it's early days yet.

Mmmmmm Silver Monte's look awesome, really wish I'd spec'd a silver one :-(

Yeah your probably looking at another 8 months to a year minimum :( as I guess the rapid will depreciate quite heavily.

I'm debating whether i look at a monte soon or something else.....

I confirmed today what I've recently suspected - if you are going downhill on overrun and the PID is showing ---.- knocking it into neutral causes the current mpg to start displaying a figure of 200mpg or thereabouts. So on overrun with your foot off the accelerator, you are using zero fuel whereas in neutral a bit is fed to the engine to keep it running obviously as a safety feature - wouldn't want to lose the power steering for instance.

Yes modern cars don't use fuel when you are off the accelerator. I find the most efficient way of driving is coasting downhills. There's a technique called pulse and glide that works well on these.

Try telling my crappy Rapid that :(

When it's time I will sell my Citislow to you ;)

Right - next thing is to find out how to coast uphill :D

If you turn the engine on, open the bonnet, then sit on the filter box you get a really nice bum massage
