Vrs vs 2 Civic Type R's

Featured Replies

A friend of mine recently acquired an FN2, with intake and exhaust. It was alot of fun but in terms of straight line speed it didn't really blow me away. Sound is amazing, the low torque, close gear ratios and really nice chassis just teases you to push that extra little bit round corners. Think you get the most out of an FN2 is just drive on limit of grip and gear, on every gear. but to get to that and keep it there you'll need a fair amount of concentration by finding right gear at right speed. Normally its 2nd and a bit of 3rd till you reach a tonne lol. I've never used 1st for low speed corner but I feel it should be used for maximum effect (up to 3xmph corners). You can't drive the car anywhere near its potential without a bit of heel-toe, unfortunately the friend who owns it doesn't know how to yet lol.

Whereas even the humble mk1 vrs the power is on tap, limit of power is easily reached and maintained. He's just custom mapped the FN2 so it'll be interesting how it fairs with the mk1 vrs..

If the mk2 runs rings round the mk1 then im pretty sure theres no problem seeing CTRs in the mirrors.

Edit: The FN2 does have a sort of launch control. clutch down and flooring it only lets you go to 4.5k maximum, another thing is that the FN2 has this annoying minimum 10-25% throttle thing so its near impossible to cruise along....

Correct: Torque Vectoring is supposed to eliminate torque steer some have front wheel torque vectoring others have rear wheel torque vectoring but there is only one car that i know of that has 4 wheel torque vectoring an incredible acomplishment! 10points to whoever gueses which car this is???

Something japanese iirc from a magazine I read a while ago... can't remember which one....

Since we're not on the topic of ctrs anymore, im guessing torque vectoring is done electronically? So is it a fancy/higher spec version of traction control..?

I suppose some cars are built with more consideration on engine balance and chassis stability when under load, hence why box 4/6 engines were made (porches, subarus and the new FT86?).

Im going to cheat and read wiki now..

DSG is for girls that cant use a stick shift :bandit:

Theres always one bell-end in every forum and in this case it comes in the form of ajs-vrs best the typical bell-end quote's as follows:

"What do i know, i own a 457BHP supercharged S2000 ;):D which i have raced, installed and mapped myself - the fabia is a second more sensible car for me, but less of this willy waving." (Whats that got to do with you knowing nothing about type R's? which you said you dont give a **** about yet felt the need to quote... "Owned various vtecs for the last 8 years." at the bottom of the page like some sort of medal you own which turned out to be usless lmao!!

also i was fascinated to see yet more bull**** fall out of your mouth on your second closing quote "Ultimately power accelerates a car not engine torque" well no your wrong again BHP is top end peak power output of an engine torque is how quick you get it up there... you can hav a 500bhp engine but if somone has more tourque then you then they will accelerate to that peak power output quicker.. hense the saying (Torque is how fast you get to the wall BHP is how far you push it back) but less about tourque cuz thats alls your full of is oh no thats Talk (spelt different) i sugest maybe stop posting quotes or maybe learn abit first els your just going to continue to make yourself look that little bit more silly :giggle::hi:

That was totally unprovoked but since you're think your the big lad...

I'm happy for you mate I really am a++/gold star, but you really need to get out more.

I bet you’re the type of person who still lives at home with their mum yet thinks he's the big I am PMSL, if you’re going to try and even be remotely clever then actually come up with a reasonable/factual explanation why you think the fact is wrong other than some bull**** generic comment, I'll give you a hint of many reasons, gearing.

I think I've met my first ****** of the forum on here ie you, nice one.

Learn how to spell too mate you retard, then people might take you more seriously.

I'll let this be as it will mean more to you in your pathetic little life, i don't seek approval of others like you.

Cheerio

@ ajs_vrs In fairness what does your 450bhp S2000 have anything to do with the thread? Oh a side note do you have a sister called Aime?

This is the most entertaining topic thread I have seen on this forum for ages, love it haha! Let's have less oil consumption and winter tyres and more of this. Lmfao ;-)

So much confusion about torque and horsepower here

This is a very informative link explains it all

An Ex Fabia vRS driver & Ex Civic driver here - Lets see the videos.... I for one don't agree with the OP.

I like turtles.

5 out of the 6 fastest fwd cars in the UK are Civics all 9 second cars

To be fair I don't think many of those civics on that website bear much resemblance to how they were when they left the factory! Vid clips are good tho

Perhaps not but goes to show how overrated they are

That video is brilliant. What a whole new world it would be if we could visual things as slow as this.

I am sure you can get 500 odd bhp from Honda Civic Type R lump without breaking a sweat :whew: - A nice cone intake kit, some 120mm lower springs, VERY PHAT and loud exhaust 100bhp worth of go faster stripes and you are rocking 5 large ones before you know it!

In all seriousness the only thing left original are the panels, and not all of them at that! with that amount of torque the standard car with look like DNA helix after first fully open throttle application  .

@s0niX

I was pondering buying high speed vid camera but would never be able to justfiy the spending to The Chancellor of Exchequer aka SWMBO

Raphael was always my favourite. How about you?

And the 5th is a Vauxhall Tigra. What does that prove? :D

How slow and overrated they are according to the uninitiated on here

Hater gonna hate but the facts speak for themselves

If I may, the way I read that comment was that they are over-rated for what they offer as stock, nothing to do with tuning potential which is what that webpage clearly shows.

The OP's car is a stock one, and so was the 1st of the two Civics iirc. Meaning that if you just buy a Civic and leave it be thinking you got an ultimate weapon, then you will probably be disappointed in a few circumstances. So it's two different things that you two are talking about I think.

Christ those cars get off quick.... wonder how they would compare to the fastest production spec cars out there..... Elise SC or a GTR(530) with Launch control used, and if a Pagani Zonda Roadster F could still thrash them??

Surely a Charged Aeriel Atom would beat them..

Anyway looking forward to Kie's reply. not to keen on ajs_vrs tbh

Christ those cars get off quick....

I knew a girl like that once :giggle:
