Yokohama Parada Spec-2

Featured Replies

Hi all, just wondering if anyone has fitted this tyre before and if so what do they think to it? I need 4 knew tyres now so need some advice on what to buy. These are at the top of my list of to buy, what others should i consider if your experiances with them are bad?

Cheers for any help,

ilmor

A friend of mine has these on his 265bhp Seat Leon Cupra R, they're excellent tyres in the dry but in the wet you need to be extra-cautious.

How well do they wear?

Iv got a set on my fabia, great tyres. No issues in the wet, they obviously don't deal with large amounts of standing water as well as others but not incapable at all.

Wear rates were a biggy for me, had toyos before and the inside of those went far too quickly where as these are still looking good and wearing evenly too!

i have these fitted all round, very good tyre wet and dry.... i will be replacing with the same

Not my experience with them, I would say they are lethal in the wet.

I too found them frightening in the wet, hence why they're now off the car and the trusty Uniroyal Rainsport 2s are now on for the forseeable. They are great in dry conditions mind.

I also find they're dangerous in the wet, basically like semi slicks :/

they wore evenly compared to proxes t1-r but being very soft compound, they didn't last long

Great in the dry, dodgy in the wet. My experience with them on the mongrel.

I'd prefer T1R for better all round performance. I also did 60 foot times @ The Pod 0.2 seconds better on T1R compared to Paradas.

i use kuhmo ku39's i think they are, and they are a really good all round tyre, drys awesome in the dry and very good in the wet! ive done 6000miles on the fronts of mine and they still look new!

Not fitted them but experiences of others suggest they're brilliant in the warm/dry. Questionable in the wet and wear quite quickly.

My tyres on the Fabia VRS...

Conti Sport contact 1s: Not really up to performance use on the Fabia VRS. Fine in the dry but relatively worse in the wet Were brilliant on my AX GT, several years ago. Seems tyre tech has moved along.

Conti sport contact 2s: OEM, bought the car new with them, probably the best tyre. Though now possibly obsolete and/or expensive.

Pirelli P Zero Nero and Pirelli P Zero: Very nice, good grip, was disappointed they wore out when they did but didn't really log mileage etc.

Uniroyal Rainsport 2s: My current latest tyres. Very soft sidewalls compared to any other contemporary tyre I've tried. they ride very well, taking a lot of the shock out of initial little bumps etc.

If getting rainsports, try bestbuytyres. Order online and have delivered to a local fitter. For some reason, stock prices at my local fitters are all mega-bucks, whether it be small local businesses or regional/national chains. If you can get tyres fitted free/cheap, try camskill.

I avoid parada Spec IIs at all costs. Horrible tyre for a daily driver, especially coming into winter. The road noise is mental. Noisiest tyre I've ever driven on.

Pirellis as mentioned above are superb. Eagle F1s are a great choice too.

I find them damn good in the dry, never really tested them in the wet at speed as I just drive like a grandad in the wet.

I had rainsport 2s years ago on another car and they were brill rain or dry.

very good tyre, it was my tyre of choice on my Mitsubishi FTO

Unless you've bought the tyres allready, I'd go for Uniroyal Rainsport 2s.

This pic probably explains why they are so good in the wet and why I like them so much.

Nearly 9 mm of tread. :D New tyres normally come with about 7.5 to 8mm.

In the past I've tried different tyres to compare and see how good they are. This time I bought I bought the same thing to replace a pair of warn ones.

They were quite cheap too, only £131 a pair delivered from Camskill. :D Obviously add £10-15 per wheel for fitting etc.

Of the cheaper tyres the Toyo T1r's get my vote and for a few pounds more I'd buy the Rainsports, or any top brand tyres, in general you get what you pay for.

very strange, ive had no trouble with them what so ever in the wet,

Me neither! Suprised at the replies. Even more so regarding the toyos, I thought they were awful!

Thing is with the Paradas even in the wet they do grip, but only really if you get heat into them which can be difficult.

Most tyres have more tread towards the middle of the tyre compared to the edges, but thats not to say it'll perform any better. In the wet brake test I'm sure you will all be able to see the best performers, for me I'd not buy any of the above as they all struggle to dissipate water compared to other tread block designs. .

I agree with all comments about Yokohama Parada Spec 2 they are horrible on wet. I sold mine to ,,devonutopia'' nearly new cos didn't like them.

had a set on my Focus, zero issues wet or dry. I'd have a set on my Ibiza right now if I didn't think using them to sit on the motorway for 120 miles a day wasn't a massive waste

On the road in the dry with some heat in them - Amazing

On the road in the wet - Scary, not even progressive they just let go

On track... Not very good, once they got hot they literally fell apart!

Best tire on the road in my experience is PilotSport2's followed by Rainsports.

I wouldn't say they are horrible. You just need to be conscious they are not the very best, and drive accordingly.

I can't seem to wear them out though. They've gone absolutely bloody miles and still look real good.

Fitted on my Renault Clio on Friday, Saturday afternoon on a trackday this--------------------------------------
