I know the feeling, think I would be in tears too

Pdr guys rule, had the work guy go over my 530i before I sold it as every door had a ding or 2, my octys front wing has a dent il get him to look over as soon as I can, he only pops in every other week! I have a set of pdr tools but its such a skill im not even gonna try.

Just noticed ur install, just a small point as im guessing the amps are under the false floor do they have ventilation? The cars rear vents should help but keep a eye on them running hot

.

They are Alpine PDX and they don't get hot

Below taken from Alpine site.

Alpine packs Class-D amplifier technology into their PDX amplifiers for awesome power from a 2" tall frame. These small-but-mighty amps run so cool they can be stacked together into a single unit — their heatsinks couple together to cool the entire stack. Each amp offers an 8" by 10" footprint, so they'll fit in hatchbacks, trunks, truck cabs, and any vehicles with limited space.

I gotta admit I not been up to date on my car audio for years but do love alpines stuff, got a original flip front head unit at home thats probably 12 years old and other than needing the laser re aligned its still better sounding than some of the cheap crap out there.

While doing my external charge socket I noticed the battery clamp was all rusty. So quick clean and paint.

I'm not that pleased as its all pitted but better than it was. I need to visit the powder coaters to get the wife's RARB blasted and coated so will get the battery clamp done as well.

While waiting for paint to dry I gave the Octy a wash and then a coat of Dodo Juice Purple Haze.

Octy seems to be costing a few quid lately. Picked up wheel from Lepsons today. My fault forgot how to drive and scraped against a curb while parking. Cost £102 ouch !

Also temp guage was only showing 90 degrees while in traffic then dropped when on the move. So new thermostat and CTS as well as o rings and clip and fresh coolant. Not such a bad job to change thermostat if you have correct tools. Anyway job done and a twenty mile drive saw gauge rise to 90 degrees and stay there and mpg 38 ish. Couldn't get above 30 mpg before.

Well I was going to get the battery clamp blasted and powdercoated. But new one from TPS was £2.86.

And my curbed BBS back from Lepsons of Gillingham after being refurbished again !

Still amazes me how cheap tps are for certain things.

Bought a genuine battery for mine recently and it was 40 odd quid... litre of genuine vw antifreeze £3 !

Time for a TIP !

My lovely wife purchased for Xmas for me an R-Tech super sized TIP. After reading Bowders1's write up about 300 times on how to do it and also looking at it on the garage shelf on a regular basis I thought it about time to get cracking with the tools.

First out with the air box.

Then undo all of the associated tubes diverter valve etc from the upper part of the OEM Tip. You can then remove top section by releasing clip half way down.

The bottom metal part is held to the turbo with a 5mm hex bolt. This is undone from beneath car. To aid removal as per Bowders how to I removed M8 hex bolt securing hard pipe. The remaining half of old Tip can then be removed with a little wiggle.

Now the fun began. As the new silicone tip is much larger and in one piece it's a bit of a mission to get it into place. I admit long periods of just staring at where it was to go followed.

I lubricated the turbo end of the new Tip and wiggled it and twisted it until the job was done.

I then refitted all hoses and diverter valve and re fitted air box mission complete.

If anyone wants to do this read Bowders1's how to and have a go your self. Alternatively people local are more than welcome to pay me a visit. I will not be doing it for anyone but don't mind watching and laughing while you struggle !

The owners of the Plough have placed two 8 birth static homes up at the back. One the land lady lives in. And the other I have rented for the weekend.
