looking forward to the next update :)

I absolutely love this. Can't believe I've not seen this before now. Hats off to you with what you've done. Probably my favourite car on here.

Have you tried it on track yet?

Positive comments greatly appreciated. Not been on track yet. It's booked on for the additional bits inc stage 2 mid February so ill probably look at doing some track time soon afterwards, most probably after I take the winter rubber off in April. :-) I think it's probably going to surprise a few people. :-)

It'd be very interesting to see it's time at a How Fast session because the only Yeti so far was my remapped 200bhp diesel.

Sounds like it's going to be great fun. :)

Not to mention it's far more "stealth" looking like a regular Yeti. :)

What Nissan? ;-)

I do. ;-) This one is a do it all vehicle for me including off roading and that's the only reason it isn't wearing a set of Eibach/greenline springs.

Will you be doing anything with the Shock Absorbers in 'Stage 2'? This needn't change the ride height of course.

I'm curious, as I'm thinking of fitting Koni FSDs to Kevin (use them successfully on my Octy vRS) to sharpen the handling a bit more as the balance between springs & shocks isn't quite right with Eibachs fitted.

Nope. Dampers are staying standard as I just dont see them as a weakness to be honest. They are comfortable enough, even with everything running a mid grade polybush and bigger diameter ARB's and also firm enough to not let the suspension enhancements down. :)

The big difference with this car compared to previous one (including my Mk2 Octy VRS) is that on the others, when you put in a modified/uprated part, it seemed to highlight the wekness of the vehicle i another area. With this one, everything just seems to gell, all over, better still. Difficult to explain really but its as if the chassis has a natural talent that every little tweek just releases another 10%. :)

Hmmm; thinking cap on.

Maybe I should have gone for ARBs as opposed to Eibachs?

Ive done springs and arb's (and usually dampers too tbh) on every car Ive owned bar two and ive ended up doing them at different times on four of the cars. Without any doubt, uprated ARB's give the biggest improvement with least compromise. Spring wise, I tend to go with Eibachs, especially on Fords as they seem to compromise the ride least and improve the lean best without being twitchy in severe situations. Overall, best spring/damper setups have always been Bilsteins from my experience. :)

I had FSD's fitted to my Octavia L&K. They were an improvement over the standard ones, but they were leaking

Overall I think I would have been better off with OEM. I didn't think they were that good.

At one time Koni's FSDs were flavour of the month for the Octavia (mostly vRS) but reading that side of the forum recently it seems that Bilstein B12s are preferred these days.

On my Mk2 VRS I had FSD's with Eibach's. General opinion seeemd to be that they were better with OE springs but I thought they were ok. If I were buying suspension today I'd look to Bilstein first. :)

Later revision (4090) FSDs are fine, IMO (I've been running them for around 2yrs). And they've managed to stop the leak problem that the earlier revision was plagued with - that's where they get their bad name from with the Octy2.

If I were doing it now, I may well go for Bilsteins though.

Interesting comments gents; thanks.

I had FSDs on my new vRS in April '07 but the fronts went spongy (leaking?) after about a year. I got the full set replaced at about 18 months and they were fine for the remaining 18 months I had the car. The replacement set felt firmer too. I liked the FSDs for the soft ride / firm damping.

I'll have to do some further research.

They'll have been replaced with the later 4090 revision then, 100%.

They ushered the 4090 in as the 'GTI' specific damper, and went quiet about the previous attempt :D

Car is now with Shark Performance for all the above jobs to be completed. :-) Mikko will be doing the mapping work from mid week onwards. :-) Only item of hardware that hasnt yet turned up are the bigger rear brake setup from vagbremtech aka DaveB.

What rears are you going for?

What rears are you going for?

Originally I was just going to fit S3 rears but Dave suggested something slightly more powerful (41mm piston iirc) that he's been working on for the past couple of months. He's a difficult one to pin down on detail (and get hold of!) so I await to see exactly what turns up but it's VW group sourced with his own custom bracketry. :-)
