A whole heap of car for the dosh

Not sure about the wood effect though lol!

also have a 08 Ambiente for just £4.5K!

The wood trim doesn't look as bad in real life. There is one local to me and it looks rubbish in the photos but pearling through the window it looks muchos better, it would be enough to stop me from changing it to black or silver though :)

At the least the wood trim suggests a more mature driver!

Or someone with little taste :)

Mileage is a bit high though.

Blimey, just a bit.

Bleurgh, the facelift is just so damned ugly at the front though! :(

Mileage is high but with FSH will just be run in!

Yeah, but it's obviously been a rep mobile or similar......which means it's probably been driven like it's been stolen for it's whole life.

The interior is probably tatty.....in fact, I bet at that price, overall it's a bit of a dog.

Mileage is only 30,000 a year. Yes its high. My old MK2 Octavia was sold by be at 5 years old with 100K miles on it, and I was only using it to commute, mostly on motorway, it was also a rental car before I bought it, but despite this run fault free for the 4 years I owned it.

My current Audi has nearly 200K miles on it, and it was doing 30K+ miles a year in its early life, with its first and only owner before I got it who trudged up and down the M1 and M6. How do I know that, the satnav had all his destinations stored in memory, and he lived in Hertfordshire. I would rather own a high mileage car, than a low mileage one which could have a worn out clutch, pedal rubbers etc. and engine full of coke, from constant town driving.

Interior in the pictures looks pretty good to me, maxidot, bolero stereo and seats show no signs of wear at all.

That doesn't really make sense.

Car giant are very picky about stock, I bought mine from there

A quick look on some Skoda dealers show same care albiet with about 40k less for nearly 3 grand more

Im thinking of popping down next week and doing a deal on mine!

That doesn't really make sense.

A high mileage car tends to sit on motorways, therefore experiences much less gear changes.

A low mileage car could well have been driven for the same amount of time but doing much slower city driving with more gear changes and increased wear generally.

It's well documented that high mileage motorway cars are often in better condition mechanically than an equivelent low mileage car.

its also well documented that cars with high mileages are.......

Considerably cheaper !

Maybe, but there is no way you can tell what proportion of a high mileage car's mileage has actually been clocked up on a motorway. I know a guy who does fast food delivery driving. The company has it's own car for this, and it does 50,000 miles a year....and it never goes near a motorway!

Which of course is very true, but there are many, many more motorway sluggers out there than takeaway chariots.

And generally the Octavia is well favoured by fleet managers, I'm not so sure about Pizza Hut.

I also believe Car Giant tend to source their cars from fleet management companies?

Add to this the Parrot hands-free kit and I'd put a wager on this particular Octavia spending most of it's life on the motorway at 70mph.

You can never be 100% sure on a car's life, but I think aside from of a couple of missing wheel nut covers this ones pretty clean.

I wouldn't hestiate at this kind of car for my wife for the school run, she certainly isn't getting the benefit out of her diesel engined Scout.

I just wonder... what people would do?

Its an elegance with some nice extras , so would it be...

6 grand and 93k on the clock or 9 grand with 40K on the clock

3 thousand pounds is a lot of money for basically the same car???

It would depend on my annual mileage as I tend to keep my cars until they die.

If I was doing 10K a year I wouldn't hesitate at a newer high mileage example as this one.

As my mileage is quite high I need to ensure I get at least four years from a car, which equates to 120,000 miles. Add that to the 90K+ already on it and I reckon it might not make it without costing me some money to keep it going!

This, if I did low mileage I'd go for a high miler over a low mile private run car. Ours don't come off fleet until they are 4 or have 100k on the clock. Anything that goes wrong and it's fixed, how many private buyers get the car serviced on time and without questioning the work carried out ? I had a 3 year old mondeo with 73k, I ran it to 138k. In my ownership all it needed was a rear shock and a master cylinder which I'm sure the dealer broke.

But also it might last double that?

There is no reason to suggest an engine will fail because its got 90k on it

If serviced and looked after it should be ok

Its the 1.8 Tsi an unit not known for any issues unlike the majority of diesel engines

It also has a water cooled turbo that seems to be very reliable

IMHO i think it would be well worth a punt at the price , what have you got to lose

If the engine failed then the 3 grand you saved would easily buy you another unit

I wouldn't want to run a modern diesel past 80k, have you seen how much a dpf is .... £910 + vat on a 1.6 tdci focus. They seem to fall apart from 70k onwards.

That Parrot looks a bit tacky the way its mounted with the cable pushed behind the trim. Expected it to have factory BT.

How much is a December 2010 1.8 TSI Elegance Hatch with 2700 miles worth ?

@ PC1212 How many threads do you need advertising Cargiant ?

Just decide and buy it!
