As an Octavia II owner, do you "want" the new one?

Featured Replies

After 13 years with Skoda, moved on today to a Ford Focus. A lot of kit as standard, and at a good price. Will watch on to see how the new Skodas get on. Cheers Briskoda

  • Very happy with mine. Mk 3 will have to be very special to tempt me into one when I change. Why do I say that? Because Skoda may be good value, but the dealership network is far from what it used t

  • Can't see there being a VRS Rapid and the Octavia 3 might just be a tad massive to be a Q car like the current VRS. However a 4x4 Octavia Scout might be the car of choice. Unless Merc do a 4 wheel dri

  • how can you attract it?? lmao. It breaks under warranty i ask them to fix it ... they say no how do I personally attract it??

No, not until my lease is up on my Blackline and prices on the new vRS have become sensible would I consider one. But whose to say i'll want another Skoda in 2-3 years time

Maybe they don't like you?

Maybe they don't like you?

Tough, whether they like you or not you have bought a car with a warranty, i.e. a manufacturers promise to correct defects. END OF. Part of the purchase agreement by law.

Same neighbours i have.

I like my cars, i really enjoy cleaning them, i really enjoy waxing them i really enjoy trying different waxes and sealants.

I dont, drink, do drugs or rob houses...

What IS the problem?

lol.

Not cleaned mine due to the temp in the last 2 weeks. Now feeling guilty! Fck what the neighbours think. If they had half a cell between them they wouldn't be jumping off the cliffs buying pink wing mirrored/ roofed ds3s lol and corsa ecoflex/ Nissan quascnts and juke FFs!

No, apart from anything else I wouldn't consider one until it's two to three years old and lost a good chunk of its depreciation although it depends on how good value for money it is. I came very close recently to replacing my Octavia with an Exeo as the standard spec on the Sport Tech is very good and they lose a lot of money from new but while my Octavia is getting on a bit now and has few toys, I decided it just wasn't worth forking out money for a new car given it's going to spend most of its life sitting on a driveway as I try to do all my day to day travelling my bike. Plus at only 33K miles the Octavia doesn't feel that old a car either, still plenty of wear to get out of it.

As In have only had mine 3 weeks we will probably be keeping it for a while. However, the big question is what do we get for a second car to replace the Honda. Thinking Rapid estate/ or secondhand Yeti but it will be a long while before these are avaliable here in Oz given we are waiting on the Rapid (july 2013) and the yeti is yet to come on the SH market.

No, back to a six cylinder BMW of some guise again for me. The new Octavia is hard to judge though as I don't like the present one that much in non vrs form. Like to see the new VRS, but think I'd rather go for a 3 year old 5dr M135i, ugly yes but a great car for 30k new and prob about 20k at 3 year old.

Nope, or certainly not based on having seen and sat in one in a dealership last Sunday.

I'm waiting for at least a year anyway, probably two; but even then, I'd probably be more interested in a Scout or the 7-seat Yeti.

Probably a used quattro of some variant for me next time. Would like a 3.0tdi quattro, avant manual. but they're like rocking horse do-do with a manual box. Would have liked a 330d or 530d avant but since the wife has a 116i I'd like at least one car in the house that'll move in winter.

Tempting, certainly. £20k should be easily do-able. Even if retains 60% of value over 3yrs thats 18k at 3yrs old. That's do-able for a desirable BMW but it is a high-powered petrol hatch after all.

Time will tell :)

Seldom worth buying a new model until it has been de-bugged by extensive customer abuse. Why put up with the recalls and all the hassle?

Happy with my new Blackline and the 1.8TSI - if they eventually manage the same value for money in the new model line it might get my vote in a few years time.

I must admit I really couldnt get excited about the new model Octavia, then I went and saw it earlier this week and have to be honest I quite liked it, the local showroon to me had a 1.6TDI Elegance, and pretty sure they have a Race Blue demo on the road, but I thought it was nice, comfortable seats, nice interior, the looks are very Skoda, and I dont consider it a revamp of the current Octavia, more an evolution.

However, I then got back into my vRS which is just under 12 months old (I have no reason to change) and felt yes it does all of a sudden look slightly dated compared to the mk 3 (as older models always do) but mine is still a really nice spec and is what I wanted.

Would I change? Yes I would change, however, it wont be until the vRS model has come out and the prices have stabilised and come down a little bit, then maybe?

Would I go for another vRS, in a heartbeat yes I would, but, going to keep my options open and will probably drive the new vRS when its out and see from there, however I certainy wont change until early next year at the earliest.

Although, I am a sucker for new models, new toys etc etc

Hanging off for the special edition 4x4 Quattro VRs. Not buying that piece of tosh I sat in last weekend. Rear suspension looked like a 5yr old's first meccano attempt. All flashy toys but no action. Must try harder Skoda. I fear they have milked the cow too long and now it's moving on to another manufacturers turn. Please prove me wrong! On the basis of what I saw they better pull their finger pdq out as the rapid is a stinking misfit, the new Octy 3 doesn't appeal to the majority of existing buyers and they have pretty much alienated Furby drivers with their new petrol version. What's next Skoda??? Why dont you screw up the Superb and bring out a redesigned Yeti to finish it all off why don't you? Clueless... Oh forgot the shttygo! How could I forget that?

135i cracking car!

Waiting for the new Scout. 2wd cars are of limited use to me.

No chance, it is the ultimate bland mobile. Giulietta or a 330 next time round for a bit more fizz. I'm not entirely in love with the mk2 fl looks, thought the pre FL was better, and the mk1 the best looking of the lot.

Sadly I think the MK3 is a bit too big. The engine choices are becoming a bit limited,I prefer diesel as I tow a caravan but most of my other driving is local which doesn't really suit a DPF. Not sure how the 1.4 petrol would cope with towing.

Not been to see one in the flesh yet as my Blackline is only 5 months old and I'm not likely to be changing for a few years at least. That said, it'll be nice to see what the vRS is like when it is released - I feel that a lot of the standard Octavia's look a little old fashioned. I'm a bit concerned about the hatch back set-up as well. The Mk2 hatch is still big enough to get both of our Labrador dogs in - its the only hatch that will do it - the eventual replacement will probably end up being another estate.

I would swap mine for a 1.8 turbo petrol 4x4 estate. Don't think I would consider others so doubt it will happen.

I think my next choice might need to be a 7 seater.

Not a vauxhall. It'd be VAG, hopefully Skoda will have a 7 seat mpv soon

Like others have indicated, the MkIII ia just getting too big, along with the pricing. That said, the vat free / 25% off offers have been rotating almost continuously for around 4 years now, so perhaps SUK have taken a leaf out of the big supermarkets book and will start with an over-valued RRP to then offer a 'bargain' discount.

But if not a MkIII vRS, what else? Very hard to say, if the Focus ST didn't look like a complete mess I'd probably be tempted by that (and actually the ST estate looks to my eyes at least half decent when compared to the ugly/bland hatch), but right now I keep getting pulled ever closer to GT86 territory (particularly as it is now possibnle to get a discount). Yes, no room in the back, small boot, etc., but....

I had a brief look last week at the silver SE they had at the dealers in the showroom. It looks quite decent in the flesh and the dealer said they'd had the busiest launch day ever, though I didn't ask him how may he'd sold. The inside looks a cut above the Rapid, though he said he's selling quite a few Superbs at the mo what with the VAT back and all they can be cheaper than the new Octy!

We had a chat about the new vRS too, He was wondering what spec it'll have and how much it'll cost as the Blackline was so well spec'd for the money he thought the new vRS could be hard to justify if it ends up costing approx 5k more when the BL already has leather climate control etc etc.

I'm hoping they'll do another limited edition model at some stage, possibly in a couple of years time which wouldn't surprise me given how popular the BL was.

I don't think this will happen, VAG have given the budget slice of the VAG MPV pie to SEAT with the Alhambra.

If you want a seven seater Skoda you'll have to wait for the new Yeti.
