furby vrs drag race? who would win?

Featured Replies

Once you have enough power to spin the wheels, its all down to driver skill.

Spinning tyres don't put much power onto the road, and tyres spinning faster normally put less power onto the road, so the skill is in feeding in enough power to keep the wheels just on the point of spinning.

Once you're past the wheelspin stage, then its all down to power/torque.

A furby with 180 bhp would be a force to be reckoned with. I've raced Golf TDI's in my Golf GTI, and although the Golf gives a good impression of speed, I dont think its as fast as the Furby was, and Golf TDI's seem to prove it. However, if I could try it on the open road, I reckon I'd worry one. My mates chipped Ibiza was very fast, so a chipped Furby would be even better!!!

I've just realised that another factor as well as GETTING power down on the road, will be the factor of most "non-OEM" components in the engine, if you get my drift - I'm mainly referring to clutch and FMIC here, as well as perhaps a fettled turbo.

Lol.. octys aint a issue here... the furbys will get slaughtered down the 2 mile straight by even a std octy RS due to areodynamics.

i dont think a chipped Furby would get slaughtered by a std Octy by any stretch of the imagination.

Along a long straight with speeds heading about 120/125mph, it will. The octy will keep pulling higher speed due to better aerodynamics, and similar power, when the furby starts to feel the "box" drag effect.

Don't get me wrong though, it would be a close thing, but the octy would get it just due to a better ability to reach the top end, be that due to gearing or aerodynamics. :D

Ok.. ill rephrase it.

Chipped Fabia will pull a few car lengths on std octy up to 110, then octy will keep accellerating and pass the Fabia as aerodynamics become a problem... considering there is a 2 mile straight, and a 1 mile straight.. its gonna happen!

You can't use 'slaughtered' to describe it...because it's only dynamics that are concerned, so the difference wouldn't be extreme enough to use 'slaughter'..:D

...180BHP on a Furby vRS would be pretty kick a**...funny part, the Octi vRS and the Furby vRS are pretty much the same weight.

Yeah... what he said... lol

I think it would be close on the 1 mile strech (depending on how hot the day is) but not a chance on the 2miler :)

Without a doubt :D

Hang on a mo, you're agreeing with something I said.... You ill? :P

Going off experience (of the remapped fabia vs octy.. not agreeing with you lol)

In my opinion the one with SpeedHoles would win ;)

Has anyone seen a race between an octy and a furby? Aerodynamics will come in to play for sure, but isn't the octy heavier?

Nope...same weight...the Fabia vRS is a fat car

Yes. i have seen/partaken in a "race" which is what im basing this on. ;)

From another thread, my Elvington 1/4 mile time including 0-60, 0-100 time.

0 - 60 (Secs) : 6.63

0 - 100 (Secs) : 17.08

60 - 100 (Secs) : 10.45

Quarter Mile (Secs) : 15.04

Terminal Speed (MPH) : 93.81

Drag Strip Quarter Mile (Secs) : 14.84

Drag Strip Terminal Speed (MPH) : 95.45
