Weitec Coilovers

Featured Replies

Thinking of getting the weitec hicon gt coilovers, can anyone tell me what there like such as the ride comfort, are they crashy and loud, as had some cheap coilovers in the past that put me off as could feel and hear everyhole in the road. Im obviously not expecting complete comfort but wouldnt mind some, only thinking of going down like 50mm or so

In my opinion one of the best all round coilovers for everyday road use.

Let me know if you need any info or prices and I'm sure we'll be able to get you the best offer.

Only dropped about 30mm on mine, but definitely agree they're not crashy at all and, while noticeable, not especially harsh on ride comfort.

Not much drop on mine, but I don't find the ride crashy at all :)

Will be looking at these next year!

This is something that concerned me when looking for coilovers as i'd had Gaz and Avo coilies in the past and they were too harsh to deal with on a daily basis. My Weitec Hicon GTs are perfect, I've had mine fitted for about 4 months now and can't fault them at all. The ride height is spot on, the dampening and spring rate is forgiving over rough surfaces and have OEM characteristics. If you buy them you won't be disappointed, I would definitely consider Weitec in the future!

How do the AP coils compare?

I am torn between ap's or weitec.

DPM - Group buy?

Think they are exactly the same, but have heard the wietecs have slightly softer springs? Have ap's myself, can't fault them!

AP's are known for being hard. One of the best for the money for track use but harsher than Weitecs on the road.. if ur after comfort tho KW's are the daddys ;)

Have to say being fully polybushed and having a strut brace and stretched 40 profile tyres, it does make the AP's seem a tad harsh, still not as bad as the joms I had on my last car tho!

Great thanks for the replies everyone, is there anything else that i would need to buy to go with them i.e shorter droplinks, bumpstops?

Shorter mondeo droplinks

+ chop your rear bumpstops in half + thats it bud ;)

If u feel like splashing out then u could fit new front shocker top bearings while the shocks are off.. if the cars done a good few miles..

That link isnt working for me :/ Is the chopping of the bumpstops easy enough and where would i get the top bearings from? Was thinking of seeing about taking it to awesome gti and having them give me a full service and cambelt aswell as fitting the coilovers and bushes that im buying.

The rear bumpstops are easy to chop but u can buy shorter ones if u want.. a quick search on google will give u the part numbers.. if ur getting awesome 2 do it they will know :)

Cheers mate heopfully get it all sorted as soon as my vectra sells, i no its off the topic but ive got a milltek cat back system, if i was to add a milltek downpipe and sports cat do i need a stage 2 remap?

I find the Weitec's a tad more bumpy and bouncy on the road on my new fabia when compared to my old fabia which had KW Inox Varient 1's fitted, but they are a slightly more expensive coilover and I think the new Fabia is running slightly lower though compared to mine.

I highly recommend them, mines dropped 30mm and I used everyday down country roads, there firm but not uncomfortable. At that height IMO marginally softer then my parents 1 series with m-sport suspension on 18 inch run flats. Don't need mondeo drop links.

Sent using 2 baked bean cans and a piece of string

Another vote for weitec (actually made by KW according to the paperwork that came with mine for the Roomster)

They are made by KW but there KWs budget stuff (hense price difference).. like Bridgestone tyres + Firestone tyres.. they are good coilovers but not a patch on KWs

We won't be able to offer a group buy but I'm sure we'll be able to get the best price for you if anyone did want to order a kit.

KW, Weitec and AP are all made by the same company!

I have the rebound adjustable Weitecs on my Polo 6n back in 2000 - they were £750!! But they were the best coilovers I've ever bought and they long outlasted the car! They have been sold on 3 times since I sold the car!
