Richard / anyone,

Where abouts did you mount the phone holder? On the vent or down by the stero?

Anyone got any photos of their install?

cheers

g7pkf has a very neat holder for his phone, and could advise you where to buy one. His clips/screws under the LHS of the centre console (Climatronic etc) trim.

I used a dashmount to mount my nokia car kit, basically you remove the plastic trim, remove the two lhs screws holding the cliamatronic in fit the dash mount and then reasemble everything.

The great thing about this system is no holes in your car dashboard!

if your interested i will take some photos tomorrow and post them on my website. let me know?

Dean

I've got of those -it's really neat, but I find the trim around the Climatronic sometimes pops loose with it fitted. Otherwise very good.

Phil

yes that happened to me once as the mount pushes against the trim slightly, Blu tak fixes that problem well though.

Or double-sided carpet tape. Dean, where did you get your phone holder, please?

I got someone to make a bracket from stainless steel which leaves the phone cradle beside the radio, the bracket itself is mounted on the side of the storage area under the radio. I bent the stainless steel into the desired shape, then I removed the storage area, drilled 4 holes in the side of it, I drilled & tapped 8 holes in the stainless steel (4 for the mounting to the plastic and 4 for the mounting to the cradle), mounted the bracket to the storage area and to finish mounted the cradle to the bracket.

I don't know if you get this storage area on a model with climate control.

Regards,

Gaff

I also have a Dashmount bracket (ordered directly from www.dashmount.co.uk) on 0870 8408406.

To stop the facia comming off I cut away the bit of plastic that goes into the dashboard - not the clip(s) - the bit of the moulding. I only cut away the bit where the bracket is. There was no need to cut any part of the facia that you can see. I hope you understand the bit I mean.

This has solved the problem.

Paul

Hi Paul,

checked out the web site you mentioned and am interested in getting a bracket myself.

I noticed from the web site pictures that the brackets are actually designed to be mounted by the climate control panel. This is too low.

I assume that you have mounted your bracket nearer the radio?

Do you have a pics?

Cheers.

Adrian.

My mount is sited next to the air con unit - it isn't the problem that you think it might be (and I thought it would be) - although I am using mine to hold by PDA based sat nav rather than a phone.

I'll take some photos over the weekend. Is it possible to attach them to a message (if so how?!) as I don't have a facility to host them.

Paul

I had my phone mounted (ahem...) on the air vent in my last Octavia. Only thing was when it was valeted the cleaners somehow broke one of the vent shutters/splines (the rectangular things that close  ).

Plus it did make that vent pretty much obsolete.

It would be good to see some piccys if possible.

mikeskull,

I got pictures taken of my handsfree kit bracket but I am unable to put them on the site (don't know how), if you want to post your e:mail address, I'll send them on.

I also have a Dashmount bracket , which I used when I installed my Bluetooth kit for my T68i in my VW Transporter van. I can heartily recommend these brackets as they are very substantial and rigid.

Fitting of the car kit was also a doddle, linking it into the VW radio.

Bluetooth is also excellent.

Cheers

ps Dean, hows your tow bar wiring?

mikeskull,

How did you install the Bracket, do you have to loosen the dashboard and insert it between the panels, how do you secure it (is it just tighten the panels).

I just followed the instructions that came with the mount

1. Remove the ashtray.

2. Unclip the fascia panel around the heater controls/radio, using a flat bladed tool.

3. Remove the two screws to the left of the heater matrix: lever the control box forward and locate the bracket

behind the init and refit the screws.

4. Refit the fascia trim and ashtray.

Does it take much pressure to "2. Unclip the fascia panel around the heater controls/radio, using a flat bladed tool. " are they snap on type fittings

Did you have to take off the whole centre facia panel, it mush be quite delicate.

Heres the pictures of my bracket. Thanks for putting them on the site Manny
