Been looking on the trader site for a used superb can only find reference to headlight washers on the elegance so that means that model has xenon lights, but are they fitted to the other lower speck models as standard???

Only the Elegance as standard, but they were / are an option on the other models. Dont forget the Xenon lights on the Superb feature AFS as well.

`AFS`?

AFS is the cornering bit (the light switch needs to be in Auto) - when you turn a tight bend the lights bend around the corner, the beam pattern also changes with your speed, low speed they are wide and do not shine as far, then the faster you go they change to a narrower and longer beam pattern, read your manual the Elegance has lots of little useful features you will mss out on if you are not aware of them!

I have read the manual and know about the `bending` lights. I just didn't know (and still dont) what `AFS` stands for. I'm afraid I do like to know these things.

I have not got xenon lights but the lights below the bumper light up independently when turning left/right. Is this still the adaptive lights? I thought it was only xenon equipped models that had it and it used the dipped beam to adjust the beam to see better round bends and lengthened the beam on motorways etc. would my normal halogen bulbs be used in the same way or is it just the lights below the bumper it uses.

They are cornering lights only not AFS.

The Xenons option for the S and SE wasn't available at launch. That was one of the main reasons that I went with the Elegance.

From memory, I think they became orderable around the beginning of 2009.

Worth every penny. Wouldn't have a car without them.

My Octavia Vrs Xenons do this but I don't have an Auto on the Switch, " are they the same lights "
