Yeh, and disappointingly Seat aren't doing an FR with the 2.0TSI like they have done previously.

  • Can't see that anyone has posted this yet, so though I'd pop it up. New video out today.  I noticed I was the second view.   Have to say, it looks good.   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1WbzoVrIZ

  • Can you not take this to a new thread. I'm subscribed on here for mkiii vrs updates. Not the age old argument of diesel vs petrol. Christ you'll be slagging off macs and pc's next :(

  • I will never understand those that defend their own car make by slagging other makes off. OK, if you've had a particularly bad experience with a certain car make, tell the story, etc. but don't sugge

No they are doing the Cupra with a higher output (260bhp is being qouted) for those who want a fast petrol. For me this is a company car so no point, but on the petrol the Cupra must have the Golfs performance pack to match it.

On spec I specced up the Golf GTD and the Leon for my company car. They Leon was considerably cheaper

5 door GTD start is £25,940, sat nav £735, sound pack £535, sunroof £910, coming to £27,200. The 5 door Leon FR came in at £25,150 (including the Titanium alloys pack) to the same overall spec, and looks a lot better ;) The Golf looks worse than ever with the new design imho, The angular rear light cluster doesn't suit it.

I should add the Leon price is the FULL P11d price and therefore does not take into account the tech pack being free. Actual cost to buy privately with no dealer discounts is sub £24k. So a major saving over the Golf

Lets see if Skoda start offering the likes of this:

Focus ST Mountune kit (full warranty, no loss in fuel consumption etc.)

"

Costing from £1225 for the Focus ST upgrade and taking under 90 minutes to install, the upgrades significantly improve power and torque.

The Focus ST upgrade - which includes a cast alloy inlet duct, high-flow air filter and a larger intercooler - boosts power from the 2.0-litre EcoBoost engine to 271bhp, while torque is improved to 295 lb ft. The upgraded car can sprint from 0-62mph in less than 6.0sec, more than half a second faster than the standard Focus ST."

Because even though it has a dodgy dash for the money of a Focus ST3 loaded with kit (electric heated leather, xenons, heated screen, keyless go etc etc.) (+ extras of sunroof and Nav,) for: £22.9K and the Mountune pack: £1.2K you get a very quick, good handling car for a grand total of: £24.1K

That might be so but would you want to be seen dead in something so leery?!?  With THAT dash?  Those rear lights?  Nope.  Not even for £15,000 will you see me in a chavmobile like that.  Performance is alas not the only thing that makes someone buy something.  Style plays a great part too and the Focus as zero style...  or even NEGATIVE style in my book.   :giggle:   But ETTO I know.

I was just saying Skoda need to start offering this kind of thing because most forum members would jump at the chance of a 30+bhp increase with a factory warranty for that price.

I'm sure VW give you 10bhp and an LSD (not needed in a 227bhp road car really) for 1k

But you don't get any option with the Skoda.

Phew OK...  from that angle yes, I understand where you are coming from.  Driving a bright orange Ford SanitaryTowel on the other hand..............  No thanks.

Are the parking sensors extra? I assumed they were standard!

How much of a discount did you negotiate?

Here in Sweden is it just the rear sensors that comes as standard.

He couldn't do so much with the price on the new one but I got about £1500 extra on my trade in instead. :)

The estate can look discreet in black.

Not doing a Cupra?

As dope says they will do a cupra but that has a higher bhp and is more of a boy racer car than the Golf GTI. I haven't seen anything to suggest they will do a 2.0tsi fr yet which is a shame in my opinion.

I get it though; I assume they are trying to get people to hold on for the Cupra and it may well be that a 2.0tsi fr appears once the Cupra has been out for a bit and sales need a boost!

I would be tempted by a 2.0tsi fr now though tbh.

Would like that engine but don't need the massive barge that is the Octavia.

Ok, anyone got any updates on the GMFV's at all?

I spoke to 2 dealers today and they were still waiting for skoda to update the system

Nope. Been on and off the system all day looking, but nought as yet.

Ok thanks, am off to my dealer tomorrow to have a chat about one, hopefully he will have some figures for me to look at!!!

Only a lunatic would have a yellow or green one.

Gee thanks.

Gee thanks.

I'd have Yellow.

Race Blue would have been an option, but now you can get any bog standard Octy3 in that colour there are going to be loads about...

Not many people are brave enough for Yellow, which is good in my book.

Having said that though, I'd want the performance pack off the Golf GTI, because I'd be worried it'd be introduced a bit later and then I'd be gutted.

It's certainly yellow or green for me! :) I love how bright my car looks at the moment.

Need to see in flesh. But green does look good in pics. Think I'd go with meteor grey if I ordered today.

Out of interest ... what are you adding to the Golf spec to get the list price up that much? I would have gladly taken a base GTI as it comes with the adaptive cruise, xenons, front and rear sensors, bluetooth, media interface, folding mirrors etc all as standard.

Some people like an integrated sat nav I know but I just use my phone now. I know the performance pack will be seen as a must have by many.

it wasn't a like for like with the Octavia just what id get depending on what car. golf was performance pack, wheel upgrade, sound pack, winter pack and sat nav made up most of it

Rears are. Fronts extra

hi is the Octavia vrs estate come out same time as the hatch model.

Estate released today and was told hatches may start coming through late this year to early next year

Thanks rob

That's the exact debate I'm having with myself right now.  Green, or yellow.

love both but heart says green and mind says yellow

waiting for launch in india

Is there any reason to believe this is a different green to the Mk2 FL? The Mk3 green in the configurator looks different to the Mk2 configurator cartoon (which wasn't all that accurate a representation of the real thing)
