You are A) overstating how bad the torsion beam suspension is - for the large majority of drivers, most of the time they won't have a problem, and B) getting very angry about what Skoda UK do or don't choose to import as though it's a huge conspiracy. If they don't do the version you want, then you can either go elsewhere or ask them nicely and hope enough other people want the same vehicle to make it worth their while adding it to the choices.

As I said earlier on this thread...  if people don't email SUK to vent this sort of frustration they WILL NEVER KNOW!  You don't get a 1,8 petrol DSG Yeti and there are a fair amount of people that want one, because of possible DPF issues with getting a diesel.  Yet SUK don't offer us one.

  • Can't see that anyone has posted this yet, so though I'd pop it up. New video out today.  I noticed I was the second view.   Have to say, it looks good.   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1WbzoVrIZ

  • Can you not take this to a new thread. I'm subscribed on here for mkiii vrs updates. Not the age old argument of diesel vs petrol. Christ you'll be slagging off macs and pc's next :(

  • I will never understand those that defend their own car make by slagging other makes off. OK, if you've had a particularly bad experience with a certain car make, tell the story, etc. but don't sugge

I think it could be called fashion.  Just like the current fad of covering cars in matt vinyl (usually black) this grey is spot on in terms of the current zeitgeist regarding cool car colours. Slightly brown, mostly grey, sort of matt - primer to most in other words.  But remember how people in the UK balked initially at the Golf mk V GTI in WHITE?!  The car that (in my view) started the white car renaissance in the UK.  Well let's see in a few years how popular this grey will be.  My bets are that it won't be the most popular colour but people will come to like its understated coolness nonetheless.

I totally agree, people always hated white cars years back, now look! The grey looks class, don't think pictures do it justice. Def no no on the red for me anyway.

@leon ur rite there not putting any enfaces on the yellow at all, it's probably because it will be the least popular colour :(

The way it looks to me is to make the Vrs stand out from the other octavias green or meteor grey is the way to go :)

U can also see there's not many blues in any of those main photos.

Edit double quote sorry.

This British Summer Sky grey is an odd choice. They put day light driving lights to make the car more visible then come up with colour that makes it look like it's meant to be invisible in UK weather conditions.

Hmm, I might be wrong here, but I am pretty sure the world doesn't end with Britain.

Then again, I do not understand this forum anymore.. first everyone complains about SUK not giving all the options available on all markets, and now you are saying SUK should remove options (color) that doesn't work in Britain??  :giggle:

PS: I did notice that using the configurator in Sweden and Estonia a lot of the options that are "extra" in UK are standard in "normal" countries. Feel sorry for you guys.

You are A) overstating how bad the torsion beam suspension is

Current non vRS lineup is poorer for it than outgoing O2FL. It's a step back. Full stop. Every in-depth review will tell you the same.

B) getting very angry about what Skoda UK do or don't choose to import as though it's a huge conspiracy.

I read this word second time as a reply to my beef with SUK policies. I'm not sure you guys understand the meaning of word conspiracy, but it doesn't fit this scenario. Skoda provided an option to customers, that option is not being forwarded by SUK to UK customer. SUK is not making cars. They do not provide warranty for these cars. Original manufacturer does. I know you will speculate about 3rd year warranty, but that's just between them and manufacturer. Technically, EU law extends that warranty way over 3 years anyway. Therefore SUK has no reason not to "import" something, or not to forward factory options (regardless of whether we are discussing withdrawal of Scout from UK, or current haldex/DSG combinations, engine options, interior lighting, etc) other than "middle finger to you, you will drive what we tell you to drive and that's that". And that offends me as a buyer in 21st century EU. And it should offend you. I don't think it's "conspiracy" I think such behaviour could be better described as "rampant douchebaggery" or "moronic display of motherlovingness".

While discussing this issue, before replying one should ponder the balance of things to gain or loose:

- On one hand call for SUK to stop screwing around with options and manufacturers spec doesn't break your order but benefits all British buyers in the future, we all live happily every after.

- On the other, making excuses and supporting SUK withdrawing products from UK market just because it doesn't affect you this time around gives SUK license to continue entertaining us with this "we know better" policy until it actually does affect most of us.

On one hand - original manufacturers choices, on the other paying more money to douche importer to give you less choices. What to do, what to do?

If they don't do the version you want, then you can either go elsewhere or ask them nicely

How does the first option help? Ever. How is that even and argument?

And why would I ask them nicely. It's not a favour. They are not performing charity act towards me out of goodness of their heart. They are there to serve me, as a customer. And I am going to be ruthless every time they are rude and condescending to me as a buyer (as they are right now). And I am expecting you to gang up on them with me. No mercy. We want what Skoda CZ makes, in UK. Now. No exceptions. No excuses. None of that "oh but it sells in such small numbers" bull. If it doesn't sell, you don't order it. It doesn't sit in a queue. If they can keep 3.6 litre 4x4 DSG Superb on the list, then crowd and pitchforks help me - they are going to sell the most popular VAG petrol engine denomination in this century, 1.8TSI in O3, just as factory intended.

Just take a deep breath and relax.......

Hmm, I might be wrong here, but I am pretty sure the world doesn't end with Britain.

Of course. Any choice is a good choice. But, but, but. Considering there are already few silver and off-silver options, if you were at Skoda, would Dirty Water grey be your first option to add? Would you ever look at the range of cars you make and think - if only there was that one more colour to describe all of the hopelessness and all of the misery of driving a 1.2 Active (that's "S" in UK range, I think) in base spec in city traffic. ;)

Ordered my new VRs this morning!! Gone for White DSG petrol estate. For options I decided on Panoramic sunroof, black pack, Canton Sound, colour Maxi-dot & spare. Ordered for delivery in January. Can't wait!!

Didn't get any discount off the list price but the dealer gave me £1450 more in p/x than the other 2 that i'd been to, so i'm paying less for the new one than I am with the old, which I'm happy with!!

Go on all you want, but I quite fancy choosing Meteor Grey. We all have different opinions of what is nice/cool/desirable. I couldn't care less what colour other people choose, seriously, I will no lose one microsecond sleep about it.

Why are other people so bothered about colours they have no intention of ordering for their car?

that said if SUK were holding a car from coming to the UK its down to it being perceived that it wont sell many units. most decisions come down to the number of cars they will shift. this for example is why VW dropped the 4motion models of the normal golf, bora, passat etc

it may be what you want but is it what 20,000 people want? thats their call right or wrong they will live by their decision

Yes. But unlike VW, Skoda UK do not order 20,000 models to sit on the parking lot somewhere in port and wait for potential buyers. They don't do the whole Ford pre-reg for fake fleet to get bonus then flog it as special offer shtick. Everything in Octavia world for at least half a decade now is done on custom order basis. You order, you spec, you join a queue, several months long, for a small group of men in foreign country to make one just for you. The number of units is 1 every time. Pure custom building, rarely anything, ever pre-ordered, pre-registered and available to drive away today.

Exactly.  And as noted by someone above we are not asking to bring options in on a one off basis (like winter pre-heaters)...  just asking for things already available in other spec levels in the range IN THE UK mated to different engines and gearboxes.  So there is NOTHING extra or weird for SUK to stock in terms of parts.

I think skoda should introduce proper new colours like purple or pink hehe I would luuuuuuuurve my vrs in this colour. It'd def stand out LOL

But Škoda do have these colours.........  FIFTY shades in fact.  See this thread:

http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/211575-special-metallic-paints-anyone/

But alas the link does not work anymore.  I remember seeing the same for the Yeti.  Something like £440 for normal metallic colours and £675 for any of those (in the mother country of course).

Eg (for the FL Octy):

Dagnammit!!! Why they no offer me 50 colours to choose from :( oh well I love the race blue anyways :)

well maybe you should apply for the head job at SUK and change it all.......

I went this morning to take some more pics, but most of them were gone. I love that primer one a lot, in the sun it look much more intresting. And indeed it has a black spoiler, and also black roof, at least the part without the panorama. Also i saw 2 different interior color scheme options, one with red on the seats and red stitching and one with grey.

anyway, here's a couple more:

Overall a great looking car!

God the hatch looks good in blue, still waiting on solid figures before I can place my order.

Dealer is going to offer something off the list price just don't know how much yet.

loving the white estate! Off to see 2 dealers tomorrow and one of them better play ball with some discounts!

I must say race blue looks much better on the hatch than the estate, although the black pack and tints helps.

White estate looks cool though!

Meteor grey... I can't decide, think I'd need to see it in the metal.

Curious, I wonder if the meteor grey cars are being treated to different finishes? This one has a partial black pack (black grill, partly black mirrors and possibly, black roof and a black spoiler on the back).

I just noticed, why have they put that thick red reflector stripe all across the rear bumper?

On the white estate with the black difuser it doesn't look that odd but the for the rest, it's simply spoiling the rear end look

I think it looks quite smart? Matches the brake lights lol

Lol, I used to stay at the very same hotel a couple of times when I was in Sibiu. Nice place to visit btw, for you British folk. Lots of old medieval buildings still left in really good condition.

The white estate looks really really good to me, all it's missing is the panoramic sunroof to finish the look (great for passengers too!).

Having sat in a new Octy 3 at the Briskoda meet on Sunday with its sunroof open, the Panoramic roof on the Octy is alas really only of use to rear seat passengers when open.  Yes, it let's light in all the time but due to the angle of the windscreen the front edge of the sunroof starts BEHIND the driver's head!  So you don't really experience it as being open as you are sitting under the roof between the tip of the windscreen and the start of the sunroof.  I'm perhaps just used to the more upright windscreen of the Yeti which means my panoramic roof's front lip is ahead of my head so I get to experience the sky a bit more.   :giggle:
