Octavia vRS

from that angle in the photos, yes the black mirrors blend in to the "black" shiny windows, but what about form other angles, like head on, or when you're looking at them while driving. it's one of those "little things" like the discussion of the exhausts, which would bug me.

  • Can't see that anyone has posted this yet, so though I'd pop it up. New video out today.  I noticed I was the second view.   Have to say, it looks good.   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1WbzoVrIZ

  • Can you not take this to a new thread. I'm subscribed on here for mkiii vrs updates. Not the age old argument of diesel vs petrol. Christ you'll be slagging off macs and pc's next :(

  • I will never understand those that defend their own car make by slagging other makes off. OK, if you've had a particularly bad experience with a certain car make, tell the story, etc. but don't sugge

I love the black wing mirror caps, my wife's Bug has black mirror caps on a candy white car and it looks cool, head on they look good, not cheap like black plastic as they are gloss painted black, just a finishing sporty touch in my opinion.

On our configurator there's just one red, Corrida.

Anyone?

It'll be Rio Red, I would have thought metallic. Not too sure how dark/light it will be though.

It should go in to production from 1st week of September.

Any idea's why they show the picture but didn't list the name for it? P.S. it looks darker than corrida red which is a bit orangy.

Not a clue, maybe they're still undecided? I know that every now and then they have a bit of trouble with the paints and drop them until the issue is sorted, possible explanation, but complete guess work to be honest.

As soon as I get any info, by all means I will be posted up.

Thankfully in this world we don't all have to like the same things...

But as James said here the secret is that the mirror caps should be GLOSS black.  That way they match the other trim bits and really don't look weird. The new BMW 3-series has certain spec levels that have black mirrors, as does Audi, the Beetle as mentioned and many others.

Have a look at this GIF file a Yeti owner made when she was debating getting her mirrors (and B-pillar) done in black.

HXeuOo.gif

On a Yeti especially, making the mirrors gloss black accentuates the front windcreen and side windows as a single "visor" and the same for the rear glass and hatch with the B-pillar in body colour.

With the Octavia black pack the top of the grille will be in the same gloss black as the mirrors from dead on (as are the roof rails).  So looking at the car from the front the mirrors won't look alien.

That Yeti looks great with teh gloss black accents, just imprioves the look much more.

I can post a pic of my wifes Beetle with gloss black mirror caps if anyone wants to see it against candy white?

If you click on the word Beetle in my post above I think you will see we have already seen it!  (Or something very similar!)

Mmm, perhaps October is a good time to trade in the wife's Fiesta Zetec S for a good used vRS ;-)

Went for a test drive today in the diesel DSG and have to say it feels well built and sorted.

Even on fast cornering it's quite well balanced for a family based car.

I was more impressed than I thought I'd be.

Which considering I'm not a DSG fan generally is quite a compliment.

I'd love to drive the petrol version, that could be a real hoot and a cracking choice if you can afford the petrol.

Is the diesel not dearer? If not that's daft! Resale way better on diesel.

I think we can infer he meant the total cost of ownership.

Yes, the cost of the fuel.

The petrol is a little bit cheaper, but not much.

About £700 IIRC.

Less of a gap than you normally have between the top petrol and diesel engines in a car range.

But I think it'll put a bigger smile on your face. :)

Black grill, black mirrors and black roof bars on estate

Iv got it on mine

Heres difference on 2 cars at goodwood

Hello.....is there any update on the 19" wheel upgrade as to costing?

Hello.....is there any update on the 19" wheel upgrade as to costing?

the Skoda Facebook page says prices will be up in a few weeks on a download brochure.

Hello.....is there any update on the 19" wheel upgrade as to costing?

Iv spoke to skoda uk and they are on with finding out for me. It will definitely be released in next few weeks but hopefully theyll find out before for me

Hi people

I am currently looking at ordering a hatchback diesel manual. I am keen on the 19" upgrade but no dealer that I have spoken to seems to know much about them.  The other options would be black pack and heated front screen and spare wheel.  I currently have a MK2 FL in race blue and the options I had on that was auto wipe and light, auto dim mirror, spare wheel and curtain airbags.  REVO Stage 1 and HR lowering springs to 30mm. Iv loved driving it so have racked up 75k since Dec 09.  Dealer is offering £7100 if I place and order, with no restricition on mileage etc.  I am also looking at the 0% PCP offer, but trying to work out where the sting is.  Esentially I would use my car as the 30% deposit and be hopeful of some cashback, and come the end of the term, I would buy the vehicle. Would I need to state my mileage as low as possible or higher to get the GFV as low as possible.

Would appreciate your thoughts.

I've been checking on the 19" options pretty much everyday but no word as yet, as soon as I get any info will post it up.

You would have thought that Skoda would have known the price of a wheel if they are going to use it as one of their main launch wheels and use it is most press coverage...but then you would have thought they would have been able to roll out an update to their website without too much problem and we all know about that

If you are pretty much definately going to have the car at the end of the term, then set the milage as low as possible and that will lower your payments, then if you change it towards the end of your agreement do it slightly early then its just a standard PX car and the mileage wont come into it, the mileage will only come into it if you just hand the keys back at the end of the term I believe.

It's a test drive.

It's a VRS.

You nearly got me signed up for a petrol hatch while I was in there too! :giggle:
