My Octy has started to come up with a problem and its bugging me when I drive.

Each and every time I start the ignition my rear wiper starts (without fail!!), it doesn't stop at any point even if on my steering wheel stalk I turn it off and on but to no avail. It just keeps going no matter what i do. It used to work every 5-6 seconds when it was on, but if it does get to this stage it will stop half way across my rear window, thus interfering with my rear view.

If it help any, then in the last few weeks I did notice the spray stop working altogether I don't know if this is linked in any way.

Does anyone have any ideas of things I can do to rectify it or is it to pay to get a garage to fix it??

Thanks

Sounds like the motor is failing and jet is blocked.

I needed to replace my motor recently - and took the old one apart to see what's inside.

It has a white plastic gearwheel with a cam that works the wiper. The underside of the wheel has a pair of slip rings with a break in them, I guess the motor runs until the contacts are in the gap.

If course if these was water or something in there...

(mine the motor screw drive wasn't engaging the white cam wheel well and had knackered it)

Replacing the motor is easy. Just buy one from ebay (search for Ebay item 320860452438 - £72) - (you need a small puller to get the rear wiper arm off to do it though)

Putting the plastic liner for the hatch lid back on is a swine with all the clips etc, - It's a four beer (or mugs of tea) job (one for you and a mate to get it all lined up, and another each for celebration afterwards)

(Puller - something like this http://www.amazon.co...ords=B000ROFC52 )
