Fabia electrics playing up

Featured Replies

Hey All!!

Firstly, sorry if this is in the wrong place (my first post in here)!

I have a 2000 (W reg) Skoda Fabia Elegance and have been having some issues with what I can only assume is the electrics.

Both my master and spare key fob (the folding ones) have stopped locking/unlocking my car at all. I was having this issue with the master key intermittently for about 6 months but just thought it was the battery. So I've had both batteries changed but still no luck.

I've tried pairing/synchronising the keys but still no luck.

I can manually unlock/lock the drivers side but have to push the locks down manually to open the other doors from the inside. I also can't lock my boot at all.

The car starts perfectly fine with the key too.

I'm not sure if it is related but my driver's side electric window controls started playing up around the same time, I can wind the back windows down as usual but if I try to wind down the passenger side using the controls, the driver's side retracts and vice versa :/

I have to take it to a dealership for them to look at it but that's £80/hour + VAT just for a diagnostics and then whatever on top of that to have it repaired.

Does anyone have any clues??

Have you checked the fuses?

Also have you done a search, i think this problem with the windows comes up time to time.

Imo if you put the key in the lock and turn, if it only unlocks the one door, this would clear the key fobs of the fault as all the doors should unlock anyway.
