How Fast are Briskoda #3 - 1st June

Featured Replies

I won't bother stripping anything out of the Brisk Rover, I'll only have to put it back in again. I'n just gonna drive it really ******* fast :D. One decision I do need to make however, is do I run white or gold wheels?

  • Right, after my annoyance at the organisers' letting us out at Combe, and wishing to at least have a truly 100% brisky session along with a smidge of tracktime desire, I'm up for this. Won't be a work

  • We've had the practice times, we've had the hot lap times, now we have possibly the most important table of all (for obvious reasons), the improvement between practice and hot lap times 01. +5.317 -

From my perspective obviously white, but I am sure there are others who will promote gold :bandit:

Well, Ag has a far higher weight density than normal white paint, so I'd go with white to save a few seconds off your lap time :p

Don't forget about compulsory morning enema. Multiple benefits! No brown pants following those hair raising "moments" and serious weight saving as well ;)

To everyone worried about weight, centre of gravity, body roll or similar things please bear one thing in mind.

I have a Yeti.

With a towbar.

:giggle:

I thought Citigo was coming! Isn't your Yeti suppe'd up in any case?

Total mods are stage 1 tune and a towbar. That's it.

So it's a 200bhp diesel 4x4 Yeti carting about 1550kg about.

Citigo won't be coming because the gearbox is still 3 or 4 weeks away...

Bummer with Citigo:(

Ah, so my earlier calcs bhp/tonne go right out of the window!

No wonder you were the fastest :)

I think if you check a stock mkII Fab vrs has a noticable bhp per kg advantage, a faster gearbox, less weight to drag round the corners (but without drive to the rear) and some form of torque vectoring to help it corner.

I'm not sure it's so obvious why I was quicker... other than the big boys went when it was wet. :D

I personally think a stock mkII Fab vrs and my stage 1 Yeti are very similar in performance.

What I lose in weight, body roll and arodynamics are about made up by having a better balanced car with 4x4.

I am not that serious, really. I know you are a very good driver (judging from the multitude of vids knowking about da Toobe) and it has very little to do with your Yeti being mapped. Mind you, heavier car with 4x4 should run circles around much lighter and even much more powerful (not thinking vRS here) FWD racer in wet.

Sorry guys but I'm no longer going to make this event due to my car not being run in and mapped on time! 2 weeks has turned into 4 months and its still got to go to Badger5 yet to sort the fuel pump and breather system! To that end is it possible to sell my spot to a briskoda member? If so it would be £70! I'll contact Msv to arrange the admin side of things aswell!!! Sorry all, really wanted the skud on track, guess ill have to pop down in the escort instead! As long as someone gives me a push lol!!!

Sorry to hear Mark :( Those things do happen unfortunately. Citigo was supposed to be ready as well and How Fast? was supposed to be its first public showing but it was not meant to be...

Same here buddy! Maybe ready for players at goodwood?? Either way,my loss is somebody's gain!! Kano you have pm!!!

Jabo,bloody phone!!

Speak to MSV mark.

They are generally very good and given its 3 weeks away they might refund you.

Or as you say sell your space to another member I know before event #1 a couple of spaces changed hands due to similar car related issues.

I know Jabo will probably bite your hand off for his 370Z driving best mate ;)

I've spoken to Msv mate, just wanted to satisfy myself and forum members that doing this wasn't bad etiquette! They are ok with it as long as they get the details of the person taking over the (er?) slot! Thanks pasty!!

Hi All,

Just for a bit of fun on the day i got these made up for the rear windows :giggle:

I've just bought a fancy Qstarz "Xtreme 10Hz" GPS logger which I'll bring on the day. As the name suggests, it logs GPS at 10 times a second so quite accurate for comparing lap times, trajectories, etc.

If anyone wants to log their session, let me know :) You'd ideally need a bit of velcro ("spikey" type, not furry type) on the dash for this to fix to.

I am hopinh I will get my DashCmd sorted on my iPhone/iPad beforehand. It'd be still good to get your logger Xavier if you are offering - we could do the swapies :)

http://www.howfast.co.uk/leaderboard.aspx - set up fi;ter for Skoda and off you go.

I will have my Video Vbox logger, but I also have been know to have a camera or two...

So on the day I'll have maybe three or four cameras spare if people want to video their laps and don't have one.

Everytime I see that Jabo it makes me chuckle.

Only Yeti there is top of the pile, it just doesn't look right. :D

I'm praying for... :rain:

I actually stumbled upon leader boards by accident while seraching for the FAQ's section to send to my friend so he knows what to expect.

I shall do my best to address that mishap of a humble Yeti being at the top of the pile ;).

There is a red dot next to your Yeti, which would indicte it wasn't modified. Was that the case?

I purchased two camera suction cup holders on e-bay and will bring my kit as well - never too many cameras.

And rain is no option, simply not allowed!

MSV are a bit hit and miss.

For example, they have listed it as a 2000cc petrol which doesn't even exist...

Be aware a lot of tracks don't like suction mounts as they tend to fly off in an accident and hit you in the face.

It'll be in the small print.

May be OK for this, but I know MSV don't allow them on regular track days.

That's why I use 3M stuck on feet for the GoPros.

That brings me to this

Have a look at the Photpography etc section at the bottom. Did you have to obtain MSV's permission for filming on board vids and publishing them on youtube?

With suction mounts, at least the rear facing one can be converted to solid, screwed to parcel shelf type. Front one can be adapted to be head rest attached one. If not I will tape them to the windshield.

This of course will be completely unecessary as driving will be silky smooth and of a clean pants type - I am intending to drive the same car home and in the cabin of a flat bed truck :D.

We mentioned the daft license thing to the event runner on the day.

He suggested it was for commercial purposes.

I mean, they even have a filmed lap as a demo on their own site...
