  • Right, after my annoyance at the organisers' letting us out at Combe, and wishing to at least have a truly 100% brisky session along with a smidge of tracktime desire, I'm up for this. Won't be a work

  • We've had the practice times, we've had the hot lap times, now we have possibly the most important table of all (for obvious reasons), the improvement between practice and hot lap times 01. +5.317 -

  • I need something to cheer me up Just to bring this to the front as it's several pages back... 1. BossFox - Booked In 2. CRAIGROBBO - Booked In 3. PastyBoy - Booked In 4. M12MKD - Booked In 5.

It is worth it I think - never had it from a professional but I had an experienced Castle Combe tracker as a passenger in the Spring session, and the new lines taught were awesome.

How comes you were still slower than nearly everyone else then?

Sorry Jason... Couldn't resist.

I know you'll muller me this time! :)

The slightly gutting thing for me is I will still be on old mapping (but hopefully not my old brakes) - Bedford is small enough though that having 3 bar of boost compared to 2.4 isn't going to make a great deal of difference at all.

and Richard - My timing for Bedford was off due to general "off"ness with my car in the warming up bits, and the rain killed me for the timed stuff. Aiming to be better this time [fingers crossed]

RIchard, if it rains, would oyu be willing to switch your Yeti to FWD (if possible) in the interest of fairness ? ;):rain::sweat::rofl:

I remember Jason.

Cack tyres + rain = waheey!

well I'm going to have a barely run in car, with the unfavoured dunlops.... maybe I'll aim for last ;)

Well I will be bringing the only essential equipment - A big smile.

I plan to use it throughout the entire event, and will replace it with a larger or smaller smile dependant on my finishing posisiton at the end.

Nice to see someone taking it in the spirit in which it was first set up :)

On a side note, no disrespect to anyone involved, I will p@ss myself if Richard is still top of the heap after the session :D

That's not going to happen Brimma, there are some quick cars going. :)

We'll see :)

Excellent racing lines on that vid - much better than on the official website :)

If I hadn't had to have my gearbox casing repaired as well as a new clutch and flywheel, I'd be all over this. Maybe next time.

Not long now chaps! I can confirm after a week in Harrogate with plenty of beer and fine food that my weight saving plan has gone to pot, only thing I can do is use super unleaded to give me the proven boost I will need, this will be a double bonus as it will give me more miles per gallon for travelling to Bedford

Looking forward to some good banter and clean racing with you all at Bedford.

My plan of changing brake fluid this weekend didn't work-dad's taxi services took over. Luckily I have last week of May off. As for other prep

1. Camcorder mounts from fleebay hold rock solid but are not stiff enough and O get too much vibrations . I will try and manufacture my own mounts. Planning on attaching it to a "mounting rail" fixed between two head rests. One camcorder facing forward and the other backward.

2. Stickers for the helmet are being designed. Managed to get "dry run" prints on ordinary paper to check the fit.

3. Car fully logged now, just working with the data. I decided to use excel for data processing as ScanXL resists my advances and proves too log to master for easy use.

4. Got a phone all from Skoda UK re my burnt out wiper motor and 3.5months of waiting for the warranty repair. They apologised unreservedly and made a very substantial good will gesture - looks like Eibach springs will be fitted after How Fast? ;). We also had a long chat, he knew briskoda very well. We talked about oil issue and they had no info from Chemnitz or elsewhere in VAG re the causes etc. one thing he said was that engine replacement is the fix now.

C'mon 1st of June.

I booked sunny weather for the event by the way :D

600 miles on the new car.,,.... hoping for 1,000 - 1500 by how fast! eeek!

Jabo, which camcorder mounts did you get? I need to pick up a few cheapies, so interested in what the fleebay has to offer :)

That's the one I went for

As I said, the suction is rock solid, heavy Panasonic HD camcorder, rather old, survived my reckless driving over horrible local roads without falling off.

Another thing to keep on mind is how short the arm is. Makes it rather difficult or even impossible to mount on the front or back windshield. I mounted my camcorders on the back side windows. Backwards view is OK but forwards is no good. Hence head support posts mount.

EDIT: The Panasonic's vibration compensation made the picture nce and steady. Other "cheapo " camcorder without the electronics to compensate for vibrations produced rather useless footage :(

Just go for a pleasure cruise, or shall I say "a conditioning run" ;). You know your local roads and where to go to do that I presume .

The Brisk Rover survived another autosolo yesterday and the bird even managed to do as she was told and look after the tyres :D. Just gonna give it an oil change before the day and maybe a wash. Maybe. Don't think my gold wheels will be ready in time though. Apparantly I'm not allowed to push the issue as they're getting done for free :D

Washed the Yeti at the weekend.

Just need to stick some fuel in and I'm ready!

Easy peasy! :D

No uprated brake fluid, no special oil.....................just fuel?

Go, Richard :-)

That reminds me, mine needs a wash, it's been like two months since last bath

There are some comedy posts in here. The amount of thought being put into a simple trackday, especially one like this where time on track is at a premium compared to an OPL full day is hilarious!!!

Just turn up with some uprated brake fluid and drive the car!!! then when you find things you didnt like about the stock setup, look at ways of making it better.

I cant wait to read the write up after the event, its going to be like an F1 debrief!!
