How arrogant can you be!

Featured Replies

I'm sorry, but I am still laughing my socks off at a thread on a mini forum.

Various minis have been spotted up for sale at non mini dealerships. One was displayed prominantly outside a skoda dealer.

The ensuing debate? About how other dealers are using minis to lure hypnotised punters to their garages so they can sell them their skoda wares

Err,no other explanation for the mini being there then

LMAO! Quite a few interesting 2nd hand cars at the local dealer, including Audi's and BMW's ... no Mini's though

Chris

Can you name and shame the mini forum please :)

When i was at the dealer a few weeks back someone just exchanged his Jag x-type for a furby

When our MD was raising moeny to start the business he tried to P/X his XJR against a used Octavia - Sadly Skoda had no system for giving a customer a car and money in return for a vehicle :( So he had to go to Vauxhall.

2 years later he's just bought an XJR again and given the Vauxhall to his son.

Maybe they are saying, why has this mini when you could have this....enter your choice here ;-)

NO non Skodas at my dealer last time I was there. :)

I've joined up and added a reply. :D

I have resisted posting on that thread, but there's a lot of Skoda Fabia bashing going on - s'pose that's what happens when you realise you've paid over the odds for an inferior car. Funny though, I don't remember seeing many posts slagging off Minis here ? I loved the old Mini, owned two of them in the mid 90s, the new ones all seem to be driven by newly retired people trying to recapture their youth (my Dad being a case in point !)

Lots of sour grapes -

"Beaten by a Skoda??

Yep, they were 4th, where did the MINI come?

Actually, no idea! According to the latest investigation by J.D.Power & Assoc. and "What Car" mag., (UK), it did not come in the first 17 places (unless, incredibly, it's included in BMW, surely not, it's being a stand alone brand), when quality, reliability, lasting appeal, ownership costs, and service/dealer satisfaction are measured and voted upon by car owners."

Another quote from them

MINI ONE/COOPER/COOPER S came 41st out of 100

Individual scores/positions out of 100 were:

Build 60th

Performance 30th

Ride 75th

Handling 2nd

Comfort 70th

Braking 18th

Gearbox 20th

Practicality 93rd (so what!)

Steering 2nd

Reliability 61st

Comment: Despite being named car of the year in 2002, the MINI got a mixed reception in last year's dvr power survey, and continues to frustrate and delight in equal measure. As you can't get enough of its enthusiastic driving style, ranking it only behind Porch Boxter for handling and steering feel (my comment IMHO the Getrag 6 sp MCS box is better than Boxter). It seems the car still lacks performance though, and those cramped rear seats and tiny boot limit it to 93rd in Practicality charts. More worryingly, 57% of owners have reported problems, many gearbox and engine related. BMW must rectify these if it doesn't want the MINI success story to founder.

Some of the people on that forum are ok, some are very very narrow minded :grumpy:

If i see any minis on my way home they are going to get a pasting :)

from the 5th gear mini cooper Vs fabia Vrs thread:

----

This is a MINI site for MINI people, we'll have no Skodas here !

Seriously though to have two Coopers S's sent back is rather unlucky, so someone with your luck should not expect anything better from any other brand.

Do they do Skoda meets, imagine 15 Skoda's in a multitude of colours and trim level, do they salute as they pass each other ? It doesn't work and its got nothing to do with snobbery as you will discover.

I do wish you luck though and happy motoring.

adios

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Bunch o' w@nkers

I'll second that. Overpriced, poorly built and a BMW-style image. Who'd want one? LOL

Had a little read through the site. Quite funny really!

Minis are stylish. For some, thats all that matters, and fair enough to them.

For the rest, theres many other cars to chose from.

I do lots of miles, like speed :) but need comfort, nice spec and a low insurance group. Roll up the Fabia vRS. (The cost, looks and mod-ability are all just massive perks).

However, just because I love my car, and don't think theres anything out there at any price that will do the job I want it to do as well as the Fabia does, doesn's mean I slate every other car on the road, or indeed those who chose to drive them.

What a bunch of muppets. :finger:
