  • It's taken me a week to read this thread after my own Superb purchase! I can only say how gutted I am you sold Audrey! It was like a soap opera I didn't want to end. What am I going to do tomorrow?!

  • That's one hell of an aerial on the back there!...

  • It's not an aerial; it's the pole that makes contact with the ceiling grid.

I'm so jealous mate. Car looks absolutely stunning but I've got to sell my Audi A4 before I can go and buy one myself.

I am a professional detailer so if you want a crystal clear windscreen, side windows and rear window then you have to go with this...

http://gtechniq.com/shop/3s-for-cars/exterior-coatings/g1-clearvision-smart-glass-100ml/

It may seem rather expensive but you only need to coat your exterior glass once and it will last at the very least 2 years before you need to reapply it again. A kit should give you around 3 applications so although expensive it will last you around 6-8 years glass protection.

Forget your Rain-X and all that rubbish - this is the best kit on the market and I've used it on all the cars I detail as well as my one and all my family's cars as well.

Whilst that is a fantastic product. The price, prep and application isn't that straight forward. Probably best if it was applied professionally too and get the best results.

If u find the Superb u want, dont let her go!

I think i have lost abt £1-2k due to PX and buying from a non-Skoda dealer.

But she s well worth it!!!

Which glass cleaner better?

G1 or G3?

Its just for rear window with no wiper - coz i cant see a thing in the dark/rain

Whn reversing onto my 90degrees turn onto my drive! Eeek!

You have to buy a glass polish first to clean the glass first before applying the product mentioned above. The product above is really a fancy rain ex product that doesn't need regular application. But the glass need to be cleansed first otherwise it won't bind to the window.

As Jonnie5 says above - its a great product but you have to be spot on with your application. However, you dont have to be a professional to apply it.

Simply follow the instructions or watch the online tutorials on Youtube. You get a pre-cleanser which you clean your glass with first, then you apply a coat of the protector and remove and then give it another coat and then remove.

To assist with the removal of the product, you get isopropyl alcohol in a small bottle. However, you may need to purchase a small bottle seperately as it can be a tricky product to remove if you leave it on too long before removal.

Read the instructions and follow them and you'll have clear vision for years plus no waterspots when you wash your car.

You get everything you need in the kit and you don't have to buy a separate glass polish. You get a pre-cleanser which cleanses the glass which allows the product to then bond to the glass.

Ah is that £40 for the whole kit then?

Yes mate. You get three bottles; pre-cleanser, product and IPA.

However, I would recommend you get a separate bottle of IPA (cheap as chips) to assist with removal as it can be a PITA if applied in hot conditions or you leave it on too long. I tend to split the windscreen in thirds and after I apply one third of the windscreen with the product top to bottom I remove it more or less straight away with the aid of IPA on my cloth. I'd recommend two coats on the windscreen/rear screen and one coat is sufficient for the side windows. And obviously this is only for the outside glass; don't use it on the inside glass.

Great thank. Really would like to try it myself. I have top inspection from Menzerna would that do? Not sure if I could justify this in a taxi though lol

Sorry for the hi jack.

Menzerna Top Inspection is basically IPA in an expensive casing - thats all you need mate.

Its ideal for all cars - even taxis. You'll find you hardly need to use your wipers and when cleaning the car, you are never left with water spots and the water simply beads off the windscreen so you don't even need to dry the glass. Plus your wipers don't stick like they do with other glass cleaners. I'd never own a car without it on to be honest.

I've been using the Rain-X cleaner spray, £3 from Asda. Spray it on the windscreen and side windows, wipe it off like you would any normal glass cleaner with a microfibre cloth, and it cleans the glass and repels water for about 4 weeks. Above about 50mph you don't need to use your wipers. Car is much easier to scrape when it is icy now as well.

At Skoda Leeds.

Just bought a fixed price 2years servicing for £349 (include vat)

Not sure abt the £600+ extended warranty yet...

Thinking abt changing Audrey from VARIABLE servicing to

FIXED.

Wot do people think?

Depends on the annual mileage you do.

  • Author

8000

think I'd opt for fixed.

And the reasons are?

Audrey passed Health Check!

Yay!

Audrey passed Health Check!

Yay!

good to hear, any advisories? on my last octavia they wrote that the back pads wear worn by 40% and the front 60%but still passed anyways, anything like that on Audrey?
  • Author

All good!

Tyres 4-6mm

Spare 7mm

And the reasons are?

well if you only do about 8000 mile a year and the service is set for about every 18,000 miles on variable, that means that you will be 2 years and a bit between services which is far to long so every 10,000 on fixed is still cutting it neat i'd say
