I found my Superb: She's called Audrey!

That's taking the p**s.

I'd be firing off a snotty email to Skoda UK, it's them that set the list prices.

I bought a full set of wheel nut covers, 20 silver painted caps, for £8 inc. VAT from DM Keith in Leeds. They even dropped them through my letterbox for free - in York!

Yet they want the best part of a tenner for 2x 10p sized clips. Grrr.

If they designed them properly in the first place then they wouldn't ever need replacing. The plastic lugs snap off the first time they are removed.

Now breath...

(Wayne breathing in, breathe out, breathing in, breathe out ...)

  • It's taken me a week to read this thread after my own Superb purchase! I can only say how gutted I am you sold Audrey! It was like a soap opera I didn't want to end. What am I going to do tomorrow?!

  • That's one hell of an aerial on the back there!...

  • It's not an aerial; it's the pole that makes contact with the ceiling grid.

If that gets me FREE Superb Tail Light Bolt Cover s then yeah!

Can you use some rubber bungs from DIY store, and cut them down to size?

Maybe

Will have a scourer for it ...

Is there a scrap yard locally with a Superb in ?

I need to replace a few internal panels (scuffed) - so am always looking for a Superb in a scrap yard, no success so far :-(

Anyone seen a Superb II in a SY in Yorkshire ?

Yup ebay

But still think scrap yards are less inflated prices.

Gumtree good too :-)

And also our FOR SALE section on forum :-)

If you search ebay for "Skoda Superb breaking" or something similar it will turn up a number of hits, apparently selling something like a fuse or a wheel nut for 99p.

This is a commonly known way of advertising a car in a breakers yard.

The link above is a typical example - it leads to a Mk II Superb being broken by a yard in Oldham.

You are not expected to actually buy the part advertised, just to either ring them up, or go along, to enquire about the part(s) from the car you require.

Audrey s Air Con NOT been smelling right since leaving Skoda Body Shop last year :-(

Been to Skoda Air Con Service + Anti Bacteria

But that seem to just masked the smell,

and smell was back within a month.

So trying ATS now (incl anti Bacteria again)

C5AAEB9C-ED9E-447E-B978-0309D167665A-425

If not work,

Then going to try those stink bombs u let off inside the car...

I tried one of the anti bacterial A/C bombs, it was great for a few weeks but then the smell returned, it was clearly just masking rather than curing the issue.

Have you tried replacing the pollen filter too? Always worth it when deodorising the air con system.

Cheers

Dave.

My next step IF the smell comes back!

Apparently replaced earlier in the year when she was serviced

Well

An hour at ATS.

Got Audrey back.

Sat inside and ....

YUK!

Worse smell than the floral smell Skoda put in their Air Con service.

Like a clincial hospital smell that just hits u like u been sanitised yourself.

At least not the musty socky smell before.

Let s see how long it last.

Have researched this.

Some say keep Air Con on ALL the time.

But isnt this just to moist the seals?

Some say drive with air con OFF 5mins before getting to destination.

This dries the Air Con evaporator.

Its the evaporator that harbours the bateria?

Best is to spray lycos (?) directly on evaporator AND into vents in cabin ...

Did you watch how they did the anti-bac treatment? Just wondered if they use the spray bombs themselves.

This might help you Wayne. Suggests multiple uses over time to get rid of build-up of mould and mildew:

Thanks Jake!

LYSO! :-)

And leave window open if park in garage.

Love that car s dash dial/knobs!

That'll be Honda for you. Why have one button to do everything, when you can have ten?

Cripes ! This thread has been going so long, Audrey must be starting school soon !

  • Author

Well

I think the air con smell is still there...

Its not completely gone yet that anti bacteria smell.

But certainly not a clean smell.

Might need to let off a bomb or 2 in a couple of weeks ...

Then try LYSO ...
