I found my Superb: She's called Audrey!

Wayne, I used these for my mats: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-ROUND-SCREW-CAR-MAT-FIXING-CLIP-LOCATING-X2-/360478904796?ssPageName=ADME:L:OC:GB:3160

Just used the tip of a knife to make a starter hole in the carpet, and then they screw straight in.

Cheers Jake.

Its precisely why I do not want to use those.

I don't like to rip into the carpet like that - and I think the Skoda studs looks nicer and more re-useable.

But, thanks for the tip.

  • It's taken me a week to read this thread after my own Superb purchase! I can only say how gutted I am you sold Audrey! It was like a soap opera I didn't want to end. What am I going to do tomorrow?!

  • That's one hell of an aerial on the back there!...

  • It's not an aerial; it's the pole that makes contact with the ceiling grid.

Just renewed my insurance with Hastings Direct for £259 - CR 170 manual. Got no claims or convictions and 10+ years no claims, mind you. oh, sorry Wayne, forgot about your car park incident. What happened about that anyway - the other party was appealing about fault if I remember correctly?

Oh, and Hastings said they wouldn't insure me if I got the engine re-mapped.

Final Price at Bickerton Skoda (after discounts):

DSG oil Change £160

Rear Pads £80

Labour + VAT included :-)

I LOVE this thread.

Almost 1 year to the day (3rd February) I'm picking up my Mk II from the same "dealers" (Black Horse Car Sales aren't exactly dealers)

They aren't great on negotiation. Pile 'em high, sell 'em cheap is their style. The price is the price and what you see is what you get.

Still, I knew pretty much what I wanted and what I wanted to pay so no real surprises.

Also, their in-depth knowledge of the specific make / models isn't as encyclopaediac as I would have liked, but as the sales guy reckoned they get through about 500 cars per week, and the Superb is a relatively uncommon model I suppose that is only to be expected.

I couldn't read all 44 pages, but quite a few of my little questions have already been answered in it.

It's full of "Oh, I never thought of that"

I guess it comes from having Coy. cars for 3) years, where they turned up, you jumped in and drove them off.

Even after 7 years of owning my own Skodas, I still have a somewhat laid-back attitude to cars
