i need a replacement head .

does anyone know if the 1.4 8v heads made before about 2003 are interchangeable?.

The v8 staied the same thoughout its life in the fabia ... If I were you, I would wait for a couple more posts confirming that

Nothing changed on the AQW head during it's lifetime in the fabia afaik.

the old engine is AQW but we still cannot tell what the new engine is beyond it being 8v 1.4 with injection and distributor blanking plate/ later ingition unit. the identification sticker has faded in storage.

plan.A is to fit the whole new engine. plan B is to fit the new head to the existing engine.

any observations or advice welcome. including whether old but new head bolts etc can be used.

Out of curiosity where did you manage to find a brand new AQW lump?

pure fluke and not definitely AQW or new.. i was ringing around engine reconditionners for a cylinder head and one put me onto someone who said 'got engine old stock'. but the here beginneth the fun. stickers faded so we are trying to ensure we can fit whole engine or just head if necessary.
