Now its getting close does anyone have an idea of what time they are setting off so we can judge when to meet to pick up the convoy?

Right, just a bit of time keeping/suggestion.

 

I plan to get to Gaydon around 9am.

 

It's about 115 miles from J28 (A12) on the M25.

 

So my plan/suggestion is to meet and leave J28 at 7am.

 

There is a Shell (V Power!) petrol station 100 yards from the J28 roundabout up the road to Brentwood.

So I'll get there a little bit early and loiter... it has plenty of space to meet outside.

Instead of me coming from J25 to J28 I will just leave J25 about 7.15-7.30 and cruise till you catch up. Unless everyone is stopping at south mims?

I know it goes against the grain (and I'll update on this closer to the time), those going round the south-side are highly recommended to stay in lane 2 between Jct 5&6 on M25. The hard-shoulder has become lane 1. They ripped out all the drains and "repaired" the holes.....with rice pudding! It's just full of pot-holes, and not just from the drains. The surface was in a bad way before it got used daily, now it really is just awful! It's only a matter of time before there's an accident due to the poor condition of the surface.

 

Update:

 Jct 5 to Clacketts is now beside the central crash barrier (in all it's concreteyness). After Clackets you're back to the hard-shoulder as lane 1, however the potholes drain-covers appear to be better repaired.

And yes Richard I know your Yeti...  as I was driving to the Goodwood Festival of Speed you turned left from the A12 past our Shell at about 7:25 this past Friday.  So I saw both your and Aerofurb's Yetis that day.

I had it in mind that we could meet up at the Oasis Café, Old Romney & then take the by pass into Ashford to meet up with Lee before heading onto the M20.

 

Was originally thinking of doing M25 south & then M40, but would be happy to go via the north route. Depending on which way we decide we'll just need to agree a workable time to meet up.
