Wheel bearing kits

Featured Replies

Hi Guys and Gals

I've got a sneaky feeling that my front wheel bearings are on there way out. Thing is, I've been searching for replacements and there are both bearing kits ranging from £18- £100 and hub kits going for much more.. Now I'm not mechanically minded but which would be the best option?

Also can anyone help out with parts numbers?

I have a MK1 Octavia 1.8T Vrs

Thank you for any help given..

Martin

I fitted a SKF bearing in mine when my original passenger front bearing died, seemed ok altho i swopped my hubs for leon cupra r ones a few thousand miles later,

You need a press and a grinder to do front wheel bearing though as there pressed in and wheel bearing falls apart and needs to be cut off when you press it out

£35 for the genuine article posted to your door from David at Sere Motors, why buy anything else?

FAG,SKF best options....don't go for cheap unknown brands....I did ,and it lasted 11.000miles

Thats a good price

Thanks guys. Have bought the FAG units from Ebay, they arrived yesterday.

if you are not mechanically minded i take it you are taking these to a garage to fit.

they arent really diy, are a pita to get out (press), and you need a press to get them back in, well unless you have a large vice and a lot of inginuity.
