Hi yetifabia, Yes I agree with you after having an Auto in my MB with similar gear change option as a DSG I would not consider going back to manual. It was just that moving away from MB to a different kind of Box with the issues I had read about got me thinking a bit.

bobnaldo, I don't fance the VRS, my old bones........sorry. But thanks for the comment

Don't most review sites slag off auto boxes anyway? Most car reviewers are petrol heads and their favourite films are Fast & Furious (oh Lordy) what does that tell you. Biased as hell. The DSG gearbox is by far (IMO) the best auto box on the car market to date. Take it from someone that only passed his test in an auto so I'm confined to automatics and I have driven them all BMW, AUDI, Merc, Mini, Fiat, VAG etc and the DSG is by far the best. I have the vRS Fabia MKII and its the best car I car i have ever had. The Bugatti Veyron has a DSG box too.......:)

After testing the Fabia SE with DSG at the weekend I have to agree with Bellster, What I like about the car was the ability it had to use all seven gears even at low town speeds. I noted several occasions at 30 where I was in six and on the duel carriageway part of my test the car responded to higher speed manoeuvres very well. I did notice some of the gear changes however and found it not quite as smooth as the CVT in my MB but its a different type of box after all so that's to be expected. I didn't notice any of the hesitation problems at junctions or roundabouts that have been reported and really enjoyed the car. I like the driving position and the dash layout. I didn't drive an Elegance with the larger wheels but by looking at the cars side by side wheel to wheel I can't imagine there would be too much difference in ride quality with the standard springs. I have decided to buy an elegance and once I find one to my liking will be forking over my well earned cash and say good buy to The MB. Lets hope It doesn't cost me as much to run as the MB. Going back to Petrol too for the first time in ten years, will the 1.2 in the Fabia want super unleaded for best returns?

It won't want super unleaded but will run better and give better fuel economy.

The DSG is fantastic and I would find it very hard to go back to a manual. I had a Citigo as a hire car for one day with an auto box and it was the worst driving experience of my life. The 2 gear boxes are like chalk and cheese.

I personally dont rate the gearshift quality on a manual Fabia, had a manual 1.2 TSi for a day a while ago snd as good as the car was the gearshift really let it down; i'd probably go as far to say that a 1.2 TSi 105 DSG is one of the sweetspots of the range; only shame is the lack of steering wheel paddles.

Why would you say that the manual fabia TSI gearchanges let it down?

Please explain it further..
