Citigo Vagcom commands confirmed

Featured Replies

As Gizmo mentions, you can update the software any time for free.....assuming you have a genuine cable.

I don't actually own a Citigo/Up, but was enabling a few functions on a colleagues VW up. So I can't get any screen shots. From memory, I think alarm beep on locking was an option but can't say for sure.

All adaptations I did on the Up was through the pre set adaptations for the Up/Citigo available in the latest version of VCDS......I have no experience at all of long coding on the Citigo/Up and I would say long coding is largely now obsolete on the Citigo with the functionality that the latest version of VCDS offers.

So is it possible to purchase a geniune secondhand Ross-Tech VCDS and update the software from that? Just because a geniune cable seems to be £250 which is quite steep, but I could find a secondhand one for less than £100 which is more affordable to me.

  • Not sure yet about 80ish miles Might (take) you (up!) on it - no pun intended!

If you are not bothered about upgrades then the cheap (£16) Chinese VCDS cables that can be purchased from the likes of AliExpress do actually work ... ;)

Genuine second hand cables tend to fetch around £200, if you are offered one for £100 then it probably isn’t genuine.

I see. But £200 is more palatable to me, compared to £270.

So my original question still applies! Is it possible to purchase a secondhand cable and simply download the neccessary software?

Yes buy the cable, download the software directl from Ross-Tech and start using it, the only thing you will not get is Ross-Tech support if you have issues unless you register it with them for $99.

All updates are still free though.

I'm not sure this is legitmate? It's only £45?

I'm tempted to assume it's some kind of cheap copy...

non genuine cable

Correct, you cannot buy a genuine HEX+CAN brand new for less than £260 - £270.

Ross-Tech do not sell via eBay either, you will find the odd genuine used one on there, but as I said they will fetch around £200.

Hm, perhaps for now it'd be better to find a friendly Briskodian with their own VCDS to help me out in exchange for beer money (if that's the right phrase? I'm new to all this :P)

For the majority of people that is the best solution as once the coding has been done you may never use it again!

I found a user who has VCDS on your map very close to me!

I'll send them a pm to see if they're willing to help!

Thanks for your help! I've made less than 10 posts and already am finding this website useful!  :p
