Only if you spec the variable boot floor ….madness :wall:

If that's really the case then aaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.............................

"It has a 610-litre boot with the seats up – 20 litres more than the hatch"

So that extra lump on the back just gets you an extra 20 litres? Doesn't seem worth the (possibly) £1000 over the hatch for that.

But the lump looks better too

Sarge.

agreed, standard estate looks much better than standard hatch.

vRS might not show as much of a difference due to revised styling of hatch, but definitely for the stock models.

Dynamic loadmaster with precision design

The new ŠKODA Octavia Combi is 90 mm longer and 45 mm wider than its predecessor. The wheelbase has grown by almost 11 cm. The result: New records in room and space. “Our ŠKODA Octavia Combi offers rear-seat passengers extremely ample legroom – 73 mm in front of the knees – the highest in its segment. And at 610 litres, the size of the boot sets a new record for its class,” says Dr. Frank Welsch, ŠKODA Board Member for Technical Development. By folding the rear backrests down, the boot space of the Combi increases to an impressive 1.740 litres. There are also numerous ‘Simply Clever’ details: In addition to the features in the new Octavia hatch, like the double-sided floor mat, the comprehensive net restraint system, multiple bag hooks, a waste bin and lots of bottle holders, holder for multimedia devices, the ice scraper in the fuel tank opening or the warning-vest holder under the driver’s seat, the new Combi has other new smart solutions on board: examples include the coat rack or the remote fold-down function for the rear-seat backrest. The folding passenger seat makes transporting very long objects much easier. There is space for a luggage compartment rollo cover and roof bars under the adjustable and retractable variable boot floor. The design of the Octavia Combi is the epitome of clarity, precision and perfect proportions. “The new ŠKODA Octavia Combi is the perfect combination of form and function,” says Dr. Welsch.

Combi vRS Yes please! :)

Looks nice. Eagerly waiting on the test drive day early March (hatch only) but being a big fan of estates I can't wait to plonk my rear end in this.

Elegance TDI 150 me thinks ;) but only until the RS is out (here's hoping)

I want this so bad. So tomorrow i will order one in Raceblue or White (not sure yet) 1,4 140 Hp i have already ordered 19" wheels for it. So July cant come soon enough. :sun:

This 140hp 1.4 with cylinder deactivation is the dogs danglies. Very impressive mpg figures for a petrol. Very tempting and a real alternative to diesel i think as long as it has the grunt for a car this size.

It should manage fine with 140 horses and will certainly be an interesting choice. I certainly find my 140 diesel perfectly adequate (though it has buckets of torque).

I'm more bothered if the 4x4 will come with rubber bands or tyres around its wheels :)

Wheels are actually an important issue for me - not just size but also design. I like something I can get my hand through for cleaning. Current neptunes are great. Oh how sad!

Sarge.

Where did you find the dimensions of the estate?

Scrub what i said. I've reread it and it's the wheelbase that's 11cm longer than the hatchback's, according to Autocar.

Where did you find the dimensions of the estate? Assuming you are right, 4659mm + 110 = 4769mm - wow, that is bigger than my 4750mm A4 Avant! I really hope they will be available by early July when my company car is due to change. AutoExpress says "...on sale shortly after its debut in Geneva" but a dealer I spoke to last week said 6 months after the hatch... I'll take a 2.0D Elegance, please.

According to the information I have from the Autocar website, the new Octavia Estate is 4659mm which is 110mm more than the existing Estate rather than 110mm more than the Hatch. The Hatch is the same 4569mm long. Both are 2063mm wide over the mirrors which is 45mm wide than the existing.

I don't think the left foot knows what the right foot is doing at Autocar Towers, because according to this week's Autocar magazine, the estate has the same dimensions as the hatch in terms of length and wheelbase. Confused? I am! Someone please clarify!

I'd be very surprised if it had a different wheelbase to the hatch.

The changes at the rear may affect the overall length though.

Totally plausible - the wheelbase and length of the Superb Twindoor and Estate are exactly the same.

Aren't the Octy 2 hatch and estate the same dimensions? I would have thought the mk3 hatch and estate would be the same as each other.

Sarge.

Yes the Hatch and the Estate are the same length. In my earlier post I got two numbers the wrong way round. Both are now 4659mm long which is 110mm longer than the Octavia 2. Sorry for causing any confusion.

And only 179mm behind the Superb, so fairly big.

something about those triangular indents on the rear hatch which is making me think of BMW X3 or X5

Yes, most unfortunate...

And now they have been pointed out, they are annoying me

I actually prefer the non-integrated rails - means I don't have to stump up for new feet every time I change cars and means you actually have a rail to tie a rope / strap to when you have something on the cross bars - sadly missing with the new integrated stuff.

I also prefer an estate without integrated roof rails; it makes it so much easier to wash and dry the car.

My Superb GL combi is likely to be replaced with a Octy3 estate with the 2.0 Tdi engine. For the moment though, 65 mpg (actual) is a worthwhile tradeoff against the modest output of 105Ps.

Looking good. Now roll on the Scout.

Another +1.

Really looks very nice! I have the silver mk2 FL estate which I love. Petrol. Fast, comfy, lots of toys, huge space.

The new one is lighter, will be faster (vRS) and roomier. If I could afford / justify changing, I would - like a shot!
