Fiesta 2L 150bhp v's Fabia 130bhp?

Recommended Posts

i saw a Fiesta ST today... nice!

although the diesel version is not rated that well....

http://www.tiscali.co.uk/motoring/diesel/diesel_fordfiestast.html

"ST will easily see off a Mini One D, keeps up with the zippy Citroen C3 HDi but will be left staring down the tailpipe of the only real diesel hot hatchback - the Skoda Fabia vRS."

However.... my question is, what would woop a*s? the 3dr Fiesta ST 2L 150bhp? or the "standard" furby vrs 130bhp???

Performance spec....

Maximum Speed 129 mph - (Man)

0 - 62 mph 7.9 seconds - (Man)

Engine Capacity 1999 cc

Power 150@6000 bhp

Torque 140@4500 lb/ft

on the downside...

Insurance Group 13

Combined Fuel Consumption 38.2 mpg :D

i know which i'd rather have for fun and it don't have a round badge, but for an everyday sensible drive the round one wins but for actual driving enjoyment and fun the oval would win everytime

We test drove both and the ST just didnt feel fast and like most fords once you add a few extras the price goes through the roof. I think the stickers that being the over the roof and two little once down the side were

And lets be honest.......FORD?????........they are what skoda used to be, a joke. Horrible horrible cars IMHO (Oh, and I have driven and owned most Ford Models btw).

Lol - badge snobbery on a Skoda forum

i have said it before and i shall say it again.....badge snobbery?? on a skoda forum??...............

my brother has a focus, great car, i had a focus before him, great car. my first car was a mk2 fiesta, great car. the new mondeo is supposed to be pretty damn good and probably out handles the vRS in ST guise as would the focus. oh, and what suspension does the awesome new octavia use?? i wonder? that'll be the OLD focus's suspension then.

Personally when ive been looking round garages to buy a new car have been dissappionted with the overall look of Fords new cars.

They all look pretty boring to be honest unless you opt for the Focus RS or something but even the ST170 has very little cosmetic difference from a base model focus to say for example, except the addition of 17" alloys. (I think the new Focus is Rank with a capital 'R'!!) The over all look of the car is very very similar and that is what has put me off buying one.

I have owned a ford before and it was a perfectly good car but just lacked that bit of exciting styling.

NOT badge snobbery, just dont care much for Fords thats all. I too have owned fiesta's, 4 x Escorts (inc 1 RS) Mondeo and a Focus for a year and I just didn't like them. The interiors are made from cheap nasty brittle plastics and IMO the build quality of all I have owned has been total sh!te. The engines MAY be good, the Chassis's MAY be good BUT when I look at a car I look at the whole package, including interior, overall quality etc and like I say, I just dont like them. If I were a badge snob then a Skoda is the last car I'd own. ;)

I think the ST should have had at least another 20 bhp to compete with the Clio 182, which is after all, its main competition.

The main competitor for the vRS is the Zetec S, and while the Zetec S may well handle better, it has a weedy engine, and is nowhere near as well built IMO.

More power' date=' lighter and petrol. The ford would win in a straight line drag. Throught the bends probably the ford again but I cant say for sure as I haven't driven one.

Depends on what you class as an ass whiping really[/quote']

hmm - ok, i'll back off the fiesta ST. wont even attempt to show myself up!

Saying that though... i pi$$3d all over a mg ZR 160 the other night... he came up behind me on a roundabout, then as soon as we got off the roundabout we hit a dual carriageway. I looked in my mirror to see him starting to over take me. Lucky for me i was in 2nd gear, 2,000rpm!!!! So I just put my little paw down and started waving bye bye! (not literally). We reached 70+ easy (cough cough officer), but by then he was breathing in my soot!

I let him come along side me - where he gave me the thumbs up!

AV IT MG BOYS! :finger:

the 160 needs to rev to get the most out of it so on the lower revs there is not much there. Apart from that he would want to try too hard incase it broke :P

no warranty sir? ha ha ha lol

rubbish, totally. is your fabia standard?? even if you've had it re-mapped with 160 intake, new filter and all possible pikey mods it would still get whooped by the 160 if he is driving it right. i had a play with one and we were even from a flying start upto about 125mph then he got caught by traffic and we slowed down.

sorry but he wasn't trying mate

yep mine is standard! and yep he was trying! why else would he give thumbs up? I doubt he was giving me thumbs up because the sun was shining...

ever thought that the 160 u had a play with might have been re-mapped???

its pointless me bull$h77ing on this forum... we all know what the car can do - i was merely stating a fact of what happened last tuesday :(

sorry mate just jumped in both feet first there :o

its just that it gets tiring hearing of peoples impossible victories, but the one i came up against didn't sound standard admitidly but tbh i don't know anything else about it. i know it annoyed him that he couldn't beat me so that was good enough for me :D

bengie mate like I stated in my post he might well have been off the power, the 160 likes to be revved and thats where most of the power is, if the fabia or any other hot diesel had caught him off guard it would have taken alot for him to re-catch.

Sometime posted are mis understood, I once posted about beating a NSX and got slated for it but mine was tounge-in-cheek humour
