2013 General F1 Discussion thread . . . .

I reckon she'll be fine. I personally like Suzi but I know some don't. When she did MotoGP she would have a go at F1 for being "boring". For one it was when Schumacher was dominating so had a point plus MotoGP wasn't as still isn't as pushed as F1 is. BBC's coverage of F1, even with only half the races live is excellent while the MotoGP is shocking. Dull commentary, more ooh's and ahh's rather than technical insight and no podium shown.

  • I only hope it gets to the last race and Vettel needs Webber to stay behind him so Vettel can win his 4th World Title, only he's done too many laps on his tyres and they won't last to the end if he ha

I had my reservations for Suzi but I have a feeiling her style will "grow on me". She desperately needs to "stock up" on her tech knowledge. Even Jake could do that and he had no interest in F1 lol

As I've said before she already knows more than Jake did at the same point. Liked it when she was answering DC back for sitting on the fence about the Multi 21. If she can do the same to Eddie this weekend and stand up for herself and not just nod and agree she will do well.

^ Looking forward to that. Well technically informed and slightly cheeky banter makes for a good coverage. I like Anthony Davidson' style, I think he does cover training sessions ?

I dont even bother with BBC coverage anymore. I just watch on SKY. Quike like having 3 ex F1 drivers chatting during the build up as at least they have experience of racing plus Johnny Herbert isnt shy about hounding the race team cheifs. Hes been rained in a couple of time this year but it shows hes passionate about it which is good.

So the throttle pedal should be replaced with an on-off switch, and turning the engine off should apply the brakes?

Excellent idea - like a giant Scalextric :D

Chris

Helmut Marko hasbeen quoted as saying there will be no more team orders at Red Bull but apparently Vettell has said "faced with the same situation I'd probably do the same again".

Claims even if he had definately udnerstood the message he would still have done it, reckons he didn't understand "Multi 21" and was looking on the steering wheel menu for it. WTF - does he have Maxidot now!!

Plus says Webber didn't deserve help for the victory. He respects Mark as a driver but " he's never helped me out to be honest". Malyasia was payback for the previous years. Gonna be a bit icy in the Red Bull camp this weekend.

Think Mark should just drive him off the road at every race now!

I cannot say it is surprising... Htey are even worse than Ferrari in The Schumi Era. Then it was at least clear that Michael was ruling the roost without pretending all were equal and such bullcrap. I am so looking forward to fur flying over the weekend !

McNish threw his tuppence in as well re Ham v Ros

I'd be tempted. Vettel further proving how much of an arrogant t**t he is. I know all WDC's are ruthless but to say Webber didn't deserve the win shows he's getting too big for his boots. Why should he help him when Vettel has never helped him back. Hopefully this weekend or in the future Webber will be told to yield for Vettel and all we hear is him laughing. He then proceeds to punt him off the road and someone else wins the title. The urge to give him a smack must be big for Mark. He's shown better composure than I could.

What woud like to do is to go on and win a GP with Vettel coming 2nd after trying his effing hardest and then while on the podium shoving my shampagne bottle up his ar5e! After all he needs all the bubbles :D.

Vettel you've just made yourself look even more of a tool for all the fake apologies, when come this race meet you admit (not that we didn't know already TBH) you didn't really mean it. Didn't see the race and don't know if Vettel was catching him before the 'team order' but would he have caught and overtook Webber if he (Webber) hadn't followed orders and 'turned' the engine down?.

No, he wouldn't, had most of the race to do it. Only when Webbo turned the engine down he overtook.

I wonder how much Booo'ing is going to get?

Rosbert fastest in FP1, Hamilton 2nd.

Massa fastest in FP2 with Raikkonen 2nd

Bianchi impressing again. I know it's only practice but times are very good. Chilton struggling and going off won't help him. Next Taki Inoue?

Was Vettle running "race setup"? ;):giggle:

Practice means sweet FA. They all run reduced power to try and unnerve the competition.

Isn't it about time they applied the 120% rule properly - Vettel not setting a time, maybe a good tectical call but qualifying session was boring as hell.

Times are reset going into final session so technically he has not set a time! Plus he's chump.

Super dull qualifying, but I think a good race in prospect.

According to the idiot EJ, Vettel's apparent character change is because he has been in discussion with Michael Schumacher.

About time the BBC dumped EJ.

Interesting that Red Bull decided for the strategy approach. Their standard approach is to lead from the front - so they were clearly feeling vulnerable.

Also, stopping Mark out on the track - some sort of tactical call as revenge? He also was looking quicker than Vettel this weekend... They're an evil team I swear!

Top 3 will make a great race of it tomorrow!

Everyone in front of Vettel will be pitting for tyre change VERY early on, I suspect their plan is to exploit that. However the fly in the ointment is Raikkonen who has consistently shown he can look after his tyres. Hamilton said as much in the press conference.

Agreed that it will be an interesting race.

Did Webber have enough fuel in for a sample? If not he starts at the back. I can't stand Red Bull as a team or Vettel. Vettel had a lock up but never set a competitive time. Button starts ahead of him but on Mediums. I smell a strategy by Button here. Let the front runners burn the softs out while he hold position. They all pit and he puts some fast laps down then another set of mediums and set of softs at the when the car is at it's lightest, fastest and less hard on them. Could be a genius move. You know Vettel is thinking the same thing though.

Good to see I can cancel my 'Radio Times' subscription now we've got our own Brisky TV Guide

Sam Michael said that McLaren's strategy was to do the exact opposite of Vettel. However I think your strategy sounds spot on and like Kimi we know that Button can look after his tyres too.

Webber's car may have had only 150ml of fuel left in - not enough for a sample, so back of grid.

Kimi was playing the car down in the press conference but we know he'll be good on them. He always has been. Very impressive to get front row given a few hours before then they replaced lots of suspension bits.
