Yeti Insurance Renewal

Featured Replies

I've just had my renewal. Basic is £188. Legal cover and protected no claims pushes it up to £250.

Andy

I looked for online quotes the other week for my pending yeti. Compare the market quotes were giving around £140 with a £200 excess.

Shut up Marie, you know you're not helping. :peek: Stop making us feel so bad.

We all know that the thieves in Skye are an honest bunch

Insuring a car within 10 miles of Birmingham is another kettle of pikeys entirely.

You're not wrong there Al (Carl), just been on Marie's Meerkat site and the cheapest I could get was £320. Still it's better than the others, but still must be something to do with the postcode beginning with the letter 'B' I reckon. Meh! :wall:

Well thank goodness something is cheaper up here, because courier deliveries, fuel, groceries etc etc certainly aren't

... Prudential might be worth a shot:

That's tickled me, just got a quote from the Pru, they want ... wait for it ... wait for it ... £672.04

Well that just proves how individual the whole thing is.

Lesson for today - don't believe any of the shovel you read on forums - discover your own path! :giggle:

You're not wrong, and well if I can get mine for £350 of thereabouts I'll still be saving a good £200-£250 a year anyway, so I'll be quids in. Especially when you consider I'll be saving £150 a year on tax and around £75 a month on fuel.

Got to agree with MarieK, it,s not cheap living on an island.Just been over to Liverpool for the weekend, low and behold Diesel £139,9 per litre, thats a whopping 10p cheaper than ours over here. Officially there is only supposed to be a difference of 6p to 8p a litre.

I was quoted over £800 by Skoda/VW Insurance, stuck with NFU for £310 which included 2 years GAP type car new replacement and two claims without ruining your discount. I was happy with this, seemed pretty fair

I'm convinced the whole insurance renewal thing is a scam. With my renewal approaching I went on a price comparison site to get an idea of anticipated cost. Elephant quoted £216 and Admiral my existing company £218. A couple of days later Admiral contacted me and I waited expectantly for the £218 or thereabouts figure. Imagine my surprise when they invited renewal on my existing policy at £340! I declined obviously and asked for my proof of no claims bonus to be sent to me. I then asked to be transferred to the new business section, gave them my quote reference, paid my £218 and told them where they could get proof of my NCB!

Once I received confirmation I contacted customer services, needless to say they were very apologetic but as I pointed so they should have been having just tried to fleece me out of £120!!

Well I've finally settled on £330.92 from Endsleigh, as I've got a household policy with them.

Still a saving £270 over the vRS so more than happy with that.

£180 quote for me with Skoda Insurance

Did I ever mention how much I dislike you already Marie? ;)

You need to bear in mind that most insurance companies give an intruductory discount of around 15% if you take out a policy on-line.

In year 2 this discount will not apply.

Car insurance premiums are determined (not necessarily in this order) by :

the insurance group of the vehicle (set by the insurance industry's experience on the cost of repairs)

the insurance company's own experience of claims on the vehicle

the insured use of the vehicle (is commuting or business use involved, or is it just for Social Domestic & Pleasure use)

the propser's age, and history

and then you need to add the insured's postcode into the mix.

And to add complication, each insurer has it's own favoured areas and vehicles!

So depending on your location, age, use, etc etc, premiums can & will vary considerably.

The answer is just to shop around.

At the moment, I've found the best deal (for me and my circumstances) to be More Than, but not by much margin at £224, with Skoda Ensurance covering legal cover, courtesy car etc for £50.

Did someone speak? :giggle:

PS I love you too

And to add to that list, the insurers job, as I am loaded being a shift railway worker.

'scuse the pun, but thanks for bringing the topic 'back on track' Graham.

I was always taught it was vulgar to boast of your wealth; still, very happy for you that you are 'loaded'.

I live on an Island, petrol 113.9 pence per litre and diesel 116.9 per litre and that includes our road tax!
