audible alert when locking the car

Featured Replies

my old car used to flash it's indicators 5 times on locking the car. I know it's petty but i find that with just one flash of the lights i keep checking to see if the car is locked. is the any way to get an audible alert.

It is a activation on vcds, or if you have maxi dot it might be there in the central locking option.

thanks Matt t for reply, but all new to me ,what is vcds, how do i know if i have maxi dot and what do i do if i have ? sorry to sound so thick.

Do you have a display in the middle of your clocks like this? This is maxidot.

If not, VCDS is a diagnostic tool. There are lots of people on here who have it. Hopefully someone in your area can help out.

Thanks again- yes I now understand and I do have similar so I assume I have Maxidot. will try to sort something tomorrow, to bloody cold today

If you have maxidot the option you are looking for in the setup menu is ATA confirm.

The beep is quiet loud, so if you go out early or return late at night it could wake the neighbours, since it uses the alarm siren to generate the chirp.

see your point, but I'll give it a go anyway, if only to see how things work. only had the car less than a month and finding new things every day. havn't found anything so far that i don't like.

I don't know if the volume of the chirp is adjustnable but mines quite quiet...

And mine is almost inaudible. I intend getting it checked and sorted under warranty.

Yeah mine too, its just about right I'd say, and perfect for telling me that its locked successfully without being too conspicuous

Mine's a perfectly acceptable level of noise. It certainly ain't nothing like this (3.02)

The sound was enabled on my car when I bought it and it was pretty loud, too loud for late at night or early hours. Apparently you can adjust the alarm volume with VCDS but I don't know whether that also affects the chirp when locking/unlocking.

looking at the photo's of the dash from silver 1011 it seems i got standard so now it's down to vcds. anyway it's still to bloody cold tonight to even look,

Not much help - but I can hear the deadlocks clicking in place from half car park away and through double glazing! Cluthump!

does the Ambient model have an alarm?

  • Author

don't know if the ambient has an alarm - mine is the elegance, it has an alam but i can't hear it. everything elsein the car dings or dongs!!!

just needs to be enabled then

Or if you're due a service soon your dealer might do it whilst the car's in

Thanks for all the replies , i think i will wait till it goes to the dealer and let them do it.

Whe I first got my Octy - I quite liked the chirp and volume of it. At the first service they identified there was an alarm sounder fault and reaplaced it under warranty, now it's quite loud and I don't like it as much....mind you , I definitely know it's locked (along with most of the folks in the street!)

How you get your keys to work from half a car park away? I can't get mine to work half a car length away. I have to be right next to the car to get them to work.

I had the same problem with mine, Turned out the alarm siren was knackered, Hence no audible sound when switching alarm on/off..
