fab vrs v M3

Featured Replies

ok im not gona start this thread by sayin i blew his doors off or anythin, just had a little confrontation that got me thinkin?? was comin home from work and was stopped at a set of lights, nothin else on road. then this silver m3 convertable pulled up behind me(duel carrige way,by the way)lights changed , i craweled forward because the next set of lights was still on red only 50 yards away so i was in second gear. they changed so i booted it. i thought the BM would have wasted me, but no?ok he was right on my bumper. as i put it in fourth he suddenly wipped out to pass me, i dropped it to third and we stayed neck and neck for abour 100 yards before we slowed for an island. we where both givin it some so you cant say he wasnt tryin but he couldnt gain anythin on me, we where litraly neck and neck to the island?? any views on this?

any views on this?

DRUGS ARE BAD! :grumpy:

you probably slowed him down in the first place. He probably had to let off to stay behide you, dropped out of the power band so when he passed he wasn't at peak. Next time you out try going against a lesser car, get stuck behide it and and come off the power, then try and pass. I dont think the fabia will shoot pass it.

Maybe not a "REAL" M3 , lots of 320 or 325's done up to look like M3's

thats what i was thinkin. because obvioulsy he would have killed me otherwise. it proves though that there is a way to keep up with cars like that just have to catch them off the boil and you laughin!

Maybe it was the M 316 I saw last week - left the 316 badging on and stuck an M next to it!! Drum brakes at the rear!

then again i had just done my pikey mod so that prob added 20bhp to my car!!:rofl::rofl: (joke by the way)

I know someone who just got a new BMW 320D and for some reason the steering wheel and gear knob both have the M logo on them, don't know why, its not even a sport model

I say bo11ox. I had 2 spirited drives yesterday. One with an alfa 147 2ltr twinspark...perfectly equal from 20mph - 60mph. The second with a lardy audi tt 180 which just started to edge away from me at around 90mph from 10mph. Be realistic! He wasnt trying!

I agree.

I've racing/played with a M3 CSL. Not a chance on earth a Furby could stay with one.

He was probably in ECO mode :)

i agree with you lot fully! an M3 should waist a little furby, but im only tellin ya what happened. maybe he left the handbrake on!!! lol

Christ on a bike. Maybe just maybe he was toying with you, having a play, on his phone at the time etc.....

Let's just clear something up and I know the truth might hurt but an M3 will destroy a fabia vRS and then some. That also goes for an Octavia vRS aswell.

Did he have the top down, perhaps he didnt want the breeze to ruffle the pommade in his hair too much :D

I had a few encounters in my Fabia vRS and they went something like this:-

BMW M3 - No chance, left me for dead

Mates Ibiza FR chipped - No chance, left me for dead again

Ford Puma 1.7 - He was catching up slowly

Alfa 2.0 147 TS - Absolutely neck and neck between 30 and 80

Peugeot 106 GTI - It was pulling away

Audi A3 1.8T Sport - Neck and neck

BMW 330i - I was trying my best, but it was no use

Saxo VTR - I was only just pulling ahead

Thats just the ones I can remember. I was pretty disappointed with the performance of the Fabia when it really came down to it. The torque makes them feel quick, and might keep the odd hot hatch at bay for a while, but I always found eventually they'd catch up.

I have to say, in a drag from the lights, I would fancy my chances against a standard vRS in my 8v Golf (0-60 in 8.1 seconds), and I dont even think that its running as well as it can!

Paul you wasn't driving your fabia right every furbie driver know we can beat all of the above!! :P just kidding there!

Have to say around my way I dont get many cars that wanna have a blast, or maybe I'm not picking up on the vibes or the correct nod.

Hehe, your probably right, I should have stuffed the lot of them :D

One race that did surprise me was when I was taking my car to the stealers to say my last goodbye, I had a race with something that looked like a Mondeo ST220, I assumed it to be a TDCI because he wasnt pulling away, if anything I kept catching up, and he was trying, or at least, I assume that is why he was doing nearly 130 mph trying to get away... that one will forever puzzle me, because an ST220 should easily beat a standard Furby.

Paul was you behide him? If so the "slip Stream" effect may have helped

Yes I was as it happenned, so that might be it.

Although slipstream effect didnt help me when I tried to race a 4.4 litre X5 in the Golf, that thing just left me standing

Thought as much, this happen to me when I was in my old saxo days. I had a 307 come scream up behide me on the motorway and I couldn't shake him, so I pulled in, his mates had a big grin on his face untill he started to loose ground to me!

its kindly pointed out to me at every possible opertunity that in real terms the vrs is very slow, the m3 isnt that fast and evos and the likes are just 2ltr saloons, even the mcclaren f1 doesnt stand a chance quarter mile against a CBR 600 nor would they have an impact on dads mv augusta f4 senna so lets just forget this my slow cars faster than your slow car and live safe in the knowledge that you get 40 mpg even when driving the car relativly hard.

If you want fast buy a bike thats my opinion.

Agree with everyone else an M3 would murder the Furby.

I had a play with one on a empty dual carriage ages ago. It felt as if I was stationary

Made me laugh, truley wasted me.

To be fair, my mates chipped Ibiza kept up with one fairly well... he probably only pulled 20 car lengths up to 145 mph!

It all depends on the timing when I had my octavis vrs (revo'd etc) I was at a set of lights in Ravenshead (notts) along side (still moving) came an Ibiza diesel (not sure what model) lights changed so I booted it he did and bang I could not get past him.

Best car that beat me was when I just bought the car and I was going along a dual carriageway from Mansfield to jcn29 and a bloody great 4 x 4 beat me. I was gutted so phoned my mate up when I caught up with it at the motorway to ask what a tourag V10 diesel my mate wet himself and told me what it was. If anyone comes up against one of those in the notts/chesterfield area on a straight road it wil eat you
