s5 brakes on fabia

Featured Replies

will audi s5 brakes fit a fabia there 330mm discs if im not mistaken?

i understand i will need 5x100 330mm discs but will the calipers etc fit thanks guys

Only one way to know for sure - offer them up.

I'm sure they could be made fit if you tried really hard but given the 5x112 Golf MK5+ 312mm ones dont fit i'd imagine these are the same.

how do the mk5's not fit? even if you get 5x100 312mm discs aswell

The mk5s have a different carrier I think

Its the pattern/shape of the two bolt points the caliper attaches to the hub. With enough fabrication work almost any caliper could be made to fit, but the chances of the S5 caliper having the same bolt pattern as the vRS fabia, and the mk1 Aufi TT etc, are slim.

AFAIK the carriers dont line up with the hub correctly. Someone can confirm for me here.

There is a difference between the mk4 312mm calipers and carriers and the mk5 312mm calipers and carriers.

Nothing to say that you couldn't use an adapter plate.

Doesnt the MK4 R32 have a similar size of brake to the one you mentioned? 334mm if I remember correctly? I dont know if these would fit the fabia, i've never seen it done on here before, guessing you'd probably need 18's to give clearance too?

18's on a Fab always look a bit big to me.

I know that Leon Cupra ones fit and they are 323s.

So do the AP's off the Ibiza @ 312mm... but they're a bitch to get wheels to fit over!

17" wheels minimum i believe. Or 16's with spacers but not too sure on that, the ibiza cupra comes with 17" as standard.

As the the leon 323's, 17's minimum again. Most require spacers. others, like my s3 avus alloys, dont :)

I'd have thought S5 brake discs were bigger than that.

The OE front discs on my S3 are 345mm, and the rears are 310mm vented.

17" with massive spacers needed. The actual caliper is wider than a brembo lol

Why on earth would you possibly need S5 brakes on a Fabia?!

TBH, mostly for looks. 312 is a sufficient upgrade for all but the

most aggressively tuned Fabias.

Shouldn't else make a proper sticky? With all known brake set Ups that fit and that don't? What else needs to be done to make them work etc etc?

Would certainly cost a lot / take a lot of effort if it was just purely for looks... Obscenely large brakes for a car so small!

If not, definitely overkill if you ask me; I'd of said 312's with DS2500 pads or something like that would be more than ample for 99.9% of the demands Fabia owners would require?

You're too new to remember Luke. He had huge huge brakes on his Fabia.

It was one of the faster ones mind you, and believe it or not he somehow got them

glowing red. But yes I agree, anything beyond the 312s is mostly a looks thing,

but for some, looks are everything.

I could ask Dave from VAGBremTechnic for you?If you search around on VAGOC he does a hell of a lot of fancy kit's for some motor's, fitting Aston Caliper's on Mk5 Golf's and the Audi R8 setup onto a rear of a TT RS.

When he came into work the other week and I had a brief chat to him regarding what I could fit on my own, he said Porsche 4 pot's on the front using the 312mm Disc's (which fit under 17's) and on the rear's can use the Octy Vrs caliper using a spacer and fit larger MG disc's on the rear. Of course he even mentioned about making a full bespoke kit should I really want too.

Those brakes ^^^ look mega.

But whatever brakes you have, it's all about the tyres.

Yeah but it aint 5k's worth of brakes tho haha. The Disc's are 2k alone and the Caliper's with pad's are 3k. They are all ceramic Item's so in theory will last 120,000 miles unless a stone shatters your disc lol.

I have to agree with the above.

If you tested 2 cars where everything is identical, other than disc size, on the same bit of road, then press the pedal until the ABS kicks in, then both will stop at the same point. The only advantage of bigger brakes is you will stop faster with the same pedal pressure. They will also be able to dissipate heat better, due to more surface area on the disc, keeping them cool so you can use them heavily for longer before they cook.

If you ultimately want better braking, change the bits that touch the road (Tyres).

You say that Jim, but fitting bigger disks to my polo made it stop worse! I'm on my phone atm, but a couple of weeks ago I posted a link to ny thread about it.

I agree with Gary though, the s5 ones seem a bit small - my normal 3 series has 320mm rears...

My problem now is my tyres. Even in the dry with the 313mm upgrade and mintex pads and drilled and grooved mtec discs I get the abs kicking in under hard breaking. Really want rid of these Toyo Proxies 4's with a passion

We fit them at work. £10k per corner and just go under 20in wheels.

£10k per corner.

Jesus, you could buy three new Fabia vRS's for that. They look epic though, always had a soft spot for yellow brakes!
