if you take something that is not your 1st choice you will never be happy when you get in it to drive, it will niggle at the back of your mind that its NOT the car you really wanted

An Elegance should already come with the 15" Auriga wheels - as of February as far as I'm informed.

Hi Pixel_Viking!

They are actually a £190 option called "Package Style 2" which consists of 4x 15" Silver Auriga Alloy Wheels (plus temporary spare wheel etc) and this came in right at the end of February. I was luckily able to add this Style Pack 2 to the order I'd made two weeks previously. The standard wheels are still the 14" Apus alloys at this juncture but who knows what may happen with MY2014 coming up soon.

When this has happened in the past with other Skoda models, the purchaser got to use the car that was ordered incorrectly until the correct car was delivered from Skoda. They then handed back the wrong car, and drove away in the one with the correct specification.

This was all arranged by discussion between Skoda UK and the dealer, so maybe you need to get them on board as well despite what the dealer is telling you.

I hope I don't find myself in this situation in the near future but if I did then this is the route I would go down. We are currently nursing my wife's old Polo along until the Citigo arrives. For me it would not matter if we left in the 'wrong' car until the correct one turned up, just so long as they provided me with a car at their expense to drive around in, while they got the correct one delivered in. In either case getting Skoda UK involved and shouting lots about telling everyone how poor their service is should get them interested. They have a reputation of 'manufacturers of happy drivers' to protect.

Well my opinion is don't do it. You specked the Elegance for a reason. and you would always think 'It would have been nice to have this and that. Look at the reasons you originally went for the Elegance and then way up the Sport. I bet the Elegance gets more points?

The only one problem I have is that the dealer has given me a ridiculously good part ex on my fabia that I'm 99% sure will not get anywhere else. I am actually keen on the sport as I was going to buy the spoiler an the 15 inch black alloys for the elegance anyway. I forgot to mention as well there's free insurance on the sport. I think I'll ring up skoda uk on Monday an complain like hell. They know me well anyway as I've already had compensation for all the oil issues with my vrs!

They will have to honour the part ex price as they made an error. Get SUK involved, tell them you want the car you ordered and the whole deal including p/ex price honouring. Tell them you are willing to hand over your p/ex now as long as they loan you a vehicle of as close a spec to the one you ordered until your car is built. And you want compensation for the delay and inconvenience. I am sure they will do this to keep you happy. The dealer is trying to cover their arse at the moment and fob you off with a stock car that no doubt they have to pay Skoda for soon, so cashflow will be coming in to the equation for them. They have a car they have no customer for at the moment so are keen to fob any old car off on you so they don't end up out of pocket or in trouble with Skoda.

+1 - says it all.

+1 again - only settle for the car you ordered, they are in breach of contract until they fulfil the order correctly or you agree a compromise and compensation package.

Don't forget to name and shame the dealer on here when the right time comes (or threaten to) - blaming a departed staff member for errors is an easy way to cover their incompetence - they employed the person so they're liable not him - I would be unhappy every single time I drove the wrong car, at very least they should give you a courtesy car free, take your part-ex and not expect you to pay a further penny until the correct car arrives

It doesn't matter that it's a salesman that's left.

If you work for a firm, make a mess and leave they have to clear it up.

Your agreement is with the dealership, not the salesman.

They should:

1. Order you what you wanted.

2. Honour your part exchange price until it arrives.

It really is that simple.

Anything else is unacceptable in my opinion.

If they order the correct car and you drive your old one until it arrives I wouldn't expect compensation.

You get a car three months newer and are not out of pocket.

As above - their fault, not yours. Stick to your guns..

sorry for the late reply guys, after battling it out with the dealership and skoda UK and after all your advice i went and.... got the sport in the showroom! i know its sounds silly but ill explain... I did have the choice to reject the car (which i did) an go in the wrongly specked car until my new order arrived but i didn't want to be waiting for another three months for cruise control an the safety pack. I was told i could get a discount on my order but would not equate to the offer i was getting on the 'sport' in the showroom. the thing is, if i would of ordered a new one i would have ordered the sport anyway as i would of liked that in the first place but wasn't available at the time when i ordered my elegance :/ Im really happy with the discount i got in the end an couldn't be more glad that i picked the sport that they had. I know it probably suits the dealer giving me this car but i think it suited me as well in the end. the car was brand new when i picked it up yesterday an everything is working ok ATM lol. only one niggle i have is with the sat nav surprise surprise!! when i make a call or when someone calls me it only seems to come out the left speaker an the right one just crackles. could anyone help me with this issue? id like to put pictures up but i don't have a clue how to do it still!! Would still like to thank you all for your advice though! x

Good luck with your new motor! To be honest i don't blame you, i may have done the same thing myself - i went for an ex-demo Elegance instead of wating for a new car to built to my exact specifications - and i don't regret it all.

Regarding your PID issue, try a "reset", there's a little hole in it with a recessed button inside, use a pin or something like that, this usually kills all ills for a while at least.

thanks MikeW, will try that as soon as i finish installing this 4GB update!!!! :wall:

Understandable.

I hope it was a good discount.

Glad you are happy with what was offered, though this little tale reminds me of why I don't bother doing factory orders or adding options.

Try removing the PDI from the dash and clean the contacts on the dash connector and on the PDI. Use something like rubbing alcohol on a cotton bud. Maybe just dusty/dirty contacts ??
