Hi folks, Can anyone here suggest a set of tyres for my Fabia that will cope with the heavy diesel lump and retain their edges? I have had a set of Uniroyals on and the edges are away with plenty tread left in the middle.

Any suggestions would be great....

Your tyres sound under-inflated if they're not wearing in the middle.

get tracking/alignment/geometry checked first

Sounds like geometry might be out despite it being a diesel 'lump'.

If inner and outer edges are worn, see next comment.

Sounds like they are under inflated (don't always believe that the Skoda given pressures for the tyre size is always correct in all situations with all brands of tyres).

30-35 psi

35-36 psi, I ran mine on the high side to reduce wear, fuel consumption and the chance of rim damage if I hit a pothole or somesuch.

I run mine at 35 front

Interesting, I usually stick 32 all round but think I'm gonna go with 34or36 all round now

What size are they. If they are 185/60 14s (our 1.9TDI comfort are) then Vredestein Hi-Tracs are good. They won a tyres test in that size a few years ago. We also run Vred Quatrac (2 and now 3s) all-season tyres and are very good in winter.

My other suggestion is RainExperts, but you obviously know about them.

I run 33psi front and 38psi rear. Doing 45k a year so get a good idea of tyre life!! (1.9 tdi comfort) Had Kuhmo KH17's on the front, mainly A and B road driving with lots of hard cornering, lasted around 22k. Just switched over to Dunlop ecosportresponse-addyourwordhere tyres to try and get more economy, but they seem to be holding out so far!
