Door Card Damage

Thanks to everyone highlighting this issue - my elbow stays well away from the door-card in my vRS.

I try and keep my elbows of the door card too, easier said then done though.

I must sit lower (I do have the seat on the lowest) as I find the top part of the door card too high to rest my elbow on (the person who used it before me has made a small mark though)

This problem has always puzzled me. I'd struggle to get my elbows on the window sill while holding on to the steering wheel. My elbows are pretty well by my side in normal driving and do not use the centre arm rest either. Sitting fairly far back and have 32" legs and my head is close to the B pillar- so maybe that is the reason..

I seriously doubt it would be a warranty issue as it is effectively damage caused by misuse, and something that has not failed because of manufacturing defects. It is certainly not an issue with just the OP's car, it is across the whole range, and short of a global recall to replace, which they won't do as it isn't a safety issue, it is a issue that they will say is avoidable and purely cosmetic.

I had mine changed under warranty (DMK Leeds) at 1500 miles less than a month old last February, I've always used the top of the doorcard along with the armrest as I get restless/uncomfortable just on the armrest on my long weekly commute.

My vRS is the only car that's ever deformed in this way - no argument from the dealer, very helpful, very quick to sort, just had to wait a couple of days for the part to arrive.

Just gone past 44,000 miles and the replacement one is still perfect!

Bad batch? Doubt they'd admit it though...

It would be good to know it was a bad batch thing. But I have no idea how you'd go about finding out. I assume that the Superb, Yeti and new Octavia (possibly too new) don't suffer with this problem? I've not seen anything to suggest this is the case..

Almost done now. Just got to wait for the silicone to dry.

just noticed mine today on the way to work, where I put my elbow is slightly down on the curve so I am now making a point to use the actual arm rest but had to stop myself a few times. My old Civic didn't have this issue due to it being plastic and when I replaced my seats, I couldn't reach

Bad batch ? Lol

There like this since 2005.

Yeah that ^^.

The dealer had to replace the one on my 06 model before I picked it up.

As others have said though, I can't understand how people can rest their elbows up there, seems too high up from my sitting position.

has anyone looked into aquiring some from breakers in europe?

just going with the theory that a L/H drive car should have minimal in no wear at all on the door card we are after?

just a thought.

Not quite the right shape though as the door cards for driver and passenger are different

I know this is slightly off topic but trying to get some information for my father. Someone smashed the drivers mirror and assembly on his 11 plate VRS estate, I have bought the entire unit but we are struggling on how to remove the door card in order to change the assembly. I would be most grateful for any advice or assistance anyone could offer.
