White with black...yeah or nay?

Featured Replies

Am liking the clean look of the black mirror caps. Think I will be inquiring about the price of having them vinyl wrapped on my white Yeti.

I've put stainless ones over my mirrors to match the rest of the chromed bling on my car. They look classy and no not attract stone chips, I will post some photo's when I get the car clean again

  • Maybe someone with a black Yeti would want them?

  • Irrespective of what it looks like, I have to say I'm impressed with your skills MarieK.

I have gloss black mirror caps, grill and alloys on my white Yeti. I Think it looks great. I didn't think about the B pillars to be honest.

Can put pics of mine up again if anyone is interested tho many will already have seen them.

There's a white 13 plate mini by me, it's got all the pillars, mirrors, wheel arch extensions and alloys black and to me it looks disjointed- as if someones made it up from a parts bin. It wasn't that long ago that you had to pay extra for colour coded mirrors!

Incidentally the guys who did my wrapping yesterday (the Leeds branch of the Totally Dynamic franchise) were extremely impressed by the build quality of the Yeti. Actually, that's not really true - they had to take apart much more of the car than they thought would be necessary to get the roof bars, aerial and other bits of trim off, so the job took them two hours longer than they had estimated so they were a bit p****d off when I went to collect it! They commented that the Yeti was better put together than many much more expensive cars they have seen.

Was thinking about having my roof wrapped, but have just been quoted £350 because of the labour involved (has a sunroof) not sure for the amount of roof that is visable it's going to be worth it, when a remap from 140 to 175 is the same.

True, BUT that is still substantially cheaper than paying Škoda to paint it for you in the factory! And then you (or the next owner) do not have the choice to remove it at some point if you want.

Some cracking animated images MarieK, I'm not sure but I think the standard trim works best followed by the black mirrors followed by the black B area in order of my preference

Have you thought about a friesian look? Your task should you choose to accept it is to post a friesian Yeti :giggle:

This post will self delete after a while.

In the end my wrap cost £350 (VAT included) because of the labour involved in removing roof bars, aerial etc. I think that was good value as Johann has pointed out.

Speaking as an owner of a black-roofed red Yeti, I think it looks fantastic, and would look great with matching black mirrors. I plan to do my mirrors one day soon, hopefully along with some black wheels.

Would still love said black wheels to be Matterhorns, but just way WAY too expensive to get down here, far, far, south of the equator.

In any case, I agree with Johann that a wrap is much smarter in case future owners don't like different coloured roof. I only got mine because it was sitting on a lot painted that way already from the factory, and I liked it.

Marie: from the French Yeti forum a white hearse with the black B-pillar:

You know my view on these things... but just look (as an added bit of horribleness) at the tiny bit of white that shows where the curve normally would have started at the base of the B-pillar. Terrible. Maybe with a wrap you won't have seen that, but even so, looks terrible. But end of the day ETTO!

I use to think the black pillars looked good but have since decided not to get any.

I do like the decals on the lower part of the doors though.

Regards covers for the mirrors I would wait till they need covering up.

All personal but because Yetis are still rare they still look individual to me.

I do like the side decals

That looks far too messy for me with all that grey/black plastic.

An all white (including A / C pillars and rear bumper.) would look good I think.

To see what an all white Yeti (in terms of bumper and valance colour coding) will look like, head to this thread:

I,be just downloaded the Yeti accessory app and it shows the Side strips in brochure. You can get either dark or light, plus it also acts as a Film guard for the lower quarter of the rear and front doors.Don,t know if it is available from Skoda Dealers in the UK as this App is for Skoda EU.

You can get them here in different colours

I like the idea of a film guard, might save these vulnerable bits of the paintwork.

I searched and found them as well. It doesn't give an option for gradient shading like in one of the photos or if they are just one plain solid colour.

The price seems quite cheap! May settle for Silver metallic to go onto my Aqua Blue metallic.

Like you say MarieK to help protect the paint work, I get a lot of tar spots in this area so a darker colour may be better to help it look less obvious.

I've ordered them in black, not expensive so will see what they look like.

My Juke had some tar spots in those areas so I'm keen to avoid that with the new car.

Mind you, Johann, he does have a wonderful, snazzy, effective new wooden aerial on that car... ... ...

And a black cat as it,s fifth wheel.

Tony

Have to say I'm a fan of those side and bonnet graphics, they break up the white nicely. That yeti is exactly how I'd like mine to turn out once its built.

I'd be very interested MarieK to hear your thoughts on the quality of the side vinyls once you get them.

Just wondering if anyone in the UK has managed to get the genuine parts ordered off Skoda UK

Would imagine the ones ordered by Marie are a lot cheaper than Skoda "offical" ones.I like you wait to see what the ones from Estonia are like once she has got them.If they are made from 3m film (as said) they should be decent quality.

I've never had decals before so wont have anything to compare them with, but when they arrive I will do my best to 'assess their quality'.

quality is better than quantity

You just keep telling yourself that :giggle:
