Boot Lock

Featured Replies

After a year of looking I have finally found a Felly for the wife to stick her "L" plates on; considering its age it isnt in bad condition, but it has one fault that needs to be rectified ASAP - the boot wont lock on the central locking - and it is an replacement lock with NO KEY to be found.

Does anyone have a spare locking mechanism/barrel with a key I could have??

Also, any pointers on getting the central locking on it working would be appreciated.

Other than some rust - and evidence that the sunroof leaked at some point, the rest of the car seems fine - even the electric wing mirrors work!!!

the boot on mine has to be locked/unlocked separately by key and is not part of the "central locking" system. dont know if other models had the option to include the boot lock.

On the remote central locking kit, I seem to recall the smaller button was for the tailgate lock. (Never connected on mine as it's a truck). Would imply that everything is fine and dandy with yours. The motor is an add-on to the mechanism. so the existing mech and key will be fine. Also the boot motor was not part of the kit in the first place, according to the instructions.

You could always ask the dealer for a lock to fit the existing key. A door one for me cost less than £20 :)

As above, the boot was never part of the central locking set up on the Felicia. Even if you have no key you should still be able open it from the lever by the drivers seat, unless that is broken too.

My 1996 felly has central locking, but the boot isn't part of it...as above, you unlock the drivers door and pull the lever. if it isn't working, you need to get access via the back seats and remove the plastic trim around the bottom of the rear door to access the mechanism - odd's on the cable has simply become disconnected (I'm lucky in the fact that there isn't any plastic trim in mine - and some shopping had fallen against it and dis-lodged the cable -now repaired with a piece of plastic from an old bucket to cover the release lever...)

I like a car you can repair with bits of old bucket!

Thanks for the replies.

The boot does OPEN using the lever by the drivers seat, but it doesnt LOCK. However, if getting a lock to fit an existing key is so cheap I will do that when I get my hands on the car, and get an extra key at the same time. The lock mechanism looks brand new, so it is a mystery why there is no key.

Going through the service book it seems the car had one careful owner up to 41k, then 5 less careful ones!! There are no stamps in the book after that point!!! Still, the 83k miles seems to match the MOT's and the engine sounds quiet enough - even smooth at higher revs, no rattles, no smoke !!

HPI throws up no problems other than the mileage not being registered since the year 2000!!!

It will be getting chucked in for an extra MOT at my local garage though, after the experiences with my sons GF's car, I wont trust an MOT obtained by a 2nd hand car dealer again.

To get a lock from the dealer you will need:

V5

ID

Key number. If you've not got it, they should be able to recall it from the Skoda database - or contact the original dealer. I was lucky as I was ordering it from the original dealer.

Mine took 6 weeks to arrive as it was a special order.

Thanks for that info, initially we will only have the part V5, and I doubt that will be enough; I will phone and ask though.

The car is only going to be used for driving lessons for the next few months at least, so it wont be parked anywhere other than our drive - and there is no radio fitted, so not much to tempt a thief.

I was told that you can only buy a complete new lock set now, not individual ones made to fit a key.

(Scratch what I wrote, that was from 2010.)

However, still worth squeezing the dealer to see what they say.

You can move a bit on lock to lock it back up here is a pic off the white lock part with the part in unlock mode you can buy a accessorise from a skoda dealer for £45 for the boot to work with central locking
