Oil service indicator resetting

Featured Replies

Hi, can someone help me please. I have an Octavia 2 and a Fabia 2 (both 09 models) and want to reset the service 'spanner' as I do my own servicing. I have bought a Vgate VS450 which lets me access and change the codes, unfortunately I am not sure what to change them to!

When I enter the oil Reset menu I have two options - fixed or variable - my car is variable according to the engine plate.

There are four codes to be set:

40 Miles since service

41 Time since service (days)

50 Basic inspection ( mileage )

51 Basic inspection ( days)

Can someone please explain what range of values to insert so that the spanner goes away! Also what are codes 50 and 51? Are these intervals for variable servicing?

Many thanks.

Thanks for that - since I've got the gizmo to alter the settings I'd like to be able to reset the variable servicing intervals of my choice.

You know you don't have to use a gizmo to reset the service indicator?  You can do it like this (Octavia Mk 2 - others may be similar), but it will put you onto the fixed service interval instead of variable:

  1. With ignition off
  2. Hold in trip reset button (near ‘0’ on the speedo)
  3. Turn ignition on
  4. Release trip reset button.  Spanner icon is now on.
  5. Turn trip reset button to the right.
  6. Let the display settle
  7. Turn off ignition

Simples!
