Koni FSDs

Featured Replies

I have just had my car into my local garage and the mechanic said one of my rear dampers is leaking heavily. He has quoted me a price for 2 standard dampers plus bumpstops (which had perished).

However, as my car is now 9 years old and has 91k miles on I thought this could be the ideal opportunity to change all 4 dampers, as front ones could fail in a few years. I have always been tempted with these Koni FSD shocks as I believe can be used with standard springs and don't lower the ride hight at all.

So basically, where is the best (and cheapest) place to buy them?

lol they arent really cheap youll be looking at the 500+ mark just for shocks .... currently looking my self

I hope that was covered by their 'Lifetime Guarantee'

Are the shocks easy to change on the front? I'd imagine rears are quite easy.

they wont be hard to change athough they will be time consuming ... wheel off top mount off .. strut out .... strip strut ... rebuild strut on to new shock .... replace struct ... bolt down ... wheel on .... repeat on other side ... and away we go

I had Koni fsds they were decent. I've heard very good things about Bilstein though so maybe worth a look

Well they finally arrived, on Wednesday lunchtime, after 2 and a half weeks! As my MOT was expiring and needed the car this weekend, I didn't have time to open the box to see what they look like. I just gave them to a garage that evening and left it with them to fit.

First impressions are mixed. On the road home, I went over a cattle grid and thought 'what cattle grid' :D They do feel stiffer than the old standard ones. This was also confirmed today to and from work. I don't know if to describe them as uncomfortable but certainly different. I've always got the impression that the idea of these were normally be soft, but stiffen up when needs be, however it might just be the type of roads I'm on (A and B roads).  I shall find out this weekend how they fair with the 200 mile motorway journey to Gaydon and back.

Had mine for over 5yrs now.................................

You will find that there is a point when flinging it around a corner that you feel as if the car has standard soft dampers................ then if you push a bit harder that they activate and settle and do not "give" anymore.................You get used to them just be smooth......they are defo very good..as they allow full compression for potholes!!
