not as pokey and ran a little rougher.

That's the placebo effect at work surely?

They don't boost power, if you tested them on a rolling road back to back then the power made would be the same (it's been done by various magazines over the years)

Even IF they did boost the power it'd by by a couple of BHP? (at a guess) you'd never notice a 4/5 BHP increase when driving.

If you're happy then that's the main thing but I'm convinced you're wasting money.

Additives can change the cetane number (CN) of diesel. Can result in smoother running, see:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cetane_number

If these additives are so good and useful, regarding smooth running, mpg, power etc why don't Shell/BP/ESSO etc add them to their fuel?

The fact that they don't, speaks volumes to me.

If you needed them then Skoda would tell you. It's just money for old rope.

On that logic, I think it would be safer to say Skoda would try to SELL it to you. They're never one to miss a trick on that front.

I know the OP's car is a petrol (as it runs on 99Ron), and there won't be a problem, but a couple of folk above have mentioned diesels.

I thought that the PD diesels should never have any form of additives at all put into the tank, and that damage could be done by doing so. Can anyone confirm this please?

Thanks

Mike

hi mike - I've been using forte advanced diesel cleaner in our PD fabia and PD Octy for years and no harm done. they always smoke less after a treatment though

If these additives are so good and useful, regarding smooth running, mpg, power etc why don't Shell/BP/ESSO etc add them to their fuel?

They probably do to an extent in the premium stuff.  When they don't It's likely a cost/benefit compromise.

Lots of other examples of this approach in the car world, e.g. mild steel car bodies instead of stainless steel, plain bearing big ends instead of roller bearings, chain/belt cam drives instead of bevel gears & shafts ....

In any diesels ive had bmw and VW's PD ive always used Millers Diesel eco max never noticed any more power, ran slightly smoother and it certainly cut down on the smoke and in the octavia ive used Millers petrol eco max and CVL turbo.

Never had any issues.

Grizzle I've used it for years and it seems to do the job. I bought 4 500ml bottles from Costco and haven't finished the first one yet.
