  • Well it's still an impressive car and it still is clearly a Yeti.  Just that the tiny bit they moved it on, does not warrant the cost-to-change numbers for me.  It has not remotely moved on enough fro

Yes just go and look at any current UK L&K:

At least these look a bit better than without the black detailing! I wasn't sure if I wanted them, but the man at SUK advised me not to change my order or it could get pushed even later than it has now (ordered in early September with provisional week 04 build date)!

Hmmm....different to my info. I have changed twice now and still have original build slot of wk 50 (ordered 7th Oct).

Can't understand though, why your build is wk 04 when you ordered a month earlier than me?

What model/engine have you ordered?

All depends on the dealer in question's quotas...  if he already has 3 Yetis in his quota for week 50 and the weeks after, then the first slot he can get another Yeti happens to be week 4...  and so on and so forth. This is why some brokers ran into trouble with certain dealers since their prices were so keen but said dealers did not have the quota from SUK to satisfy the demand within the normal time frame.

That explains it - thanks.

I've ordered a 1.2 DSG Elegance

I've ordered a 1.2 DSG Elegance

Same as me, although have just upgraded my order from a SE 1.2 DSG.

Great review - Looks like the 1.2 was a safe bet then, for my needs.

Based on that review I can't see the point of changing up unless you have to.

I know I'm probably biased (or will be seen to be) as I like the Bug-Eye version, but it's a pretty minor upgrade.

Smart money would be waiting for the next generation car in 3 years or so.  Save on one load of new car depreciation.

That's about where I am.

Kevin is nearly three years old, nicely run in with currently 35,000 miles and a whole host of tweaks, including recently fitted DAB radio on which I'd kind of loose the value if I sell / buy.

Additionally the new FL doesn't noticeably offer me anything more than I've presently got, other than the styling, which I like, and a CR170 DSG that I could then tweak to 220(ish)bhp (very tempting).

Think I'll be keeping him for a while longer.

Guy

Next weeks Auto express,is featuring a first test drive of the FL Yeti. Will be an interesting read one hopes.

I don't understand your comment - this is only facelift so why would you want to change in first place just because of that?

Is that anythig you're missing in your current one???

On the other hand this is maybe not just a facelift because you've got a newer gen haldex, lighter and supposedly faster

so who knows MPG could be better and something more...

Because some people MUST have the latest configuration of anything, be that Yeti's or i-phones?

Currently at 76k and I expect to keep it for atleast another 50k, so about 5 years old. I suppose the question then will be whether to buy the Series1a or wait for the Series2.

Read Bossfox's comment again - he doesn't!

why in this article they're saying diesel has only five-speed manual gearbox? is it true?

Only petrol has 6 speed?

Only petrol has 6 speed?

By coincidence, the 2 Yetis that Autoexpress tested ,are the only ones with 5 speed gearboxes.

The higher powered diesels ,and all the petrols, have 6 speed manual gearboxes.

There are of course several reasons why people, may very reasonably, want to change. Some just like the idea of a new car every so often (I'm not one of them, but it's not for me to pass judgement on their preferences).

Others - and I'm probably more in this category - prefer to have a car that's mostly still in original manufacturer's warranty, is relatively new and reliable and has not started to develop any irritating minor foibles or blemishes.

Also, quite apart from the FL launch, the Yeti specification (or more specifically the options list) has been substantially enhanced since 2009. When I bought mine, electric chairs, MDI, heated screen, CR170/DSG etc just weren't available. So it's not just the FL spec changes to consider, it's what you can get in a new FL Yeti vs whatever model you currently have.

So it's relatively common for people to want to look around for a new drive after maybe 3-4 years of ownership. Competitor models have obviously also moved on, so even though a Yeti may have been the most appealing choice some years back, the same may not be true today. (That said though, there still aren't too many other models that might be considered a direct competitor to the Yeti - it still has something of a unique niche and appeal.)

Well stated prodata!

I have one on order because I sold my previous Yeti and went across to VW but missed the Yeti so much, I returning to the fold.

I do like the FL new style and the increased options. My previous Yeti was the Urban, where no options were available at all, so it's nice to be able to spec up a model tailored to my requirements.

Sort of duplicate post - the editor here is seriously misbehaving on occasion. I don't want to create a new post, but wanted to edit the previous one!

yeah, there is something about Yeti that make you come back isn't it?  I was trying not to order yeti earnestly and ended up ordering yeti anyway.

Thanks for that explanation - probably explains why Truthseeker has a build slot a week earlier than me but ordered 1 month later
