Front Suspension Strut Top Mount issue

 

Hi there.

 

I have a 2005 Fabia VRS and needed to change the front shocks. The top mounts were also worn, so I replaced these too.

 

My concern is that the new mounts (bought from Skoda themselves using the reg number) is different. The old top mounts had a bearing in them and the new ones do not. They are just solid rubber.

 

Now everything is fitted, there is a clunk when the steering is turned. On closer inspection, I can see the spring jumping slightly as the wheel is turned. This I guess is because the top mount does not rotate.

 

Am I missing something obvious here, as I don't know what to do next?

The top mount should come in two parts as in the picture. Did you only use one part?

did mine a few weeks ago, new top mounts do not come with the bearing, I swapped mine over. The bearing is a seperate part.
