trying to speak to dealer, no luck!

Featured Replies

Arrrgh. I've been trying to speak to the dealer ive ordered my citigo from to arrange a date to collect it, but every time I've phoned up all of the sales staff are busy with customer's and will `"call you back". The thing is they never do!

I know this is a busy time of year but surely there must be someone at this dealer who can speak to me??

I would normally have visited the dealer and spoken to them face to face but they are over 200 miles away so this isn't an option.

I'm beginning to think the massive saving may not be worth it!

Does anyone have any ideas on how to speak to someone at the dealer involved??

I have been ringing my dealer up every 2 weeks for a progress report on the delivery of my Citigo,I have never been contacted by the dealer themselves. If it were not for the hassle of trying to get my deposit back I would have cacelled weeks ago.

Phone up and ask to speak to the dealer Principal

Might have to try something like that. In the past when buying new cars I've only dealt with our local vw dealer and they were fine.

If they are such a big dealer you would have thought they could cope with times like this?!?

If Skoda are like vw and ask for customer feedback after collection they will get bad feedback from me.

I know what you mean. Same for me, but not Skoda.

Remember there is a dealer review section on Briskoda ;)

They can be a little erratic at getting back to you after they have took your deposit for the order. I had to ring on a couple of occasions to get an answer to a particular question. Being only around 25 miles away I visited the dealer once during the waiting process (I was sort of in the area) it was on a particular occasion I was waiting for a call back. No customers in the dealership and they were all standing in a group drinking coffee, I made my feelings known.... are you too busy to give me a call back!

And yes I got to fill in a feedback form about how well the salesperson had treated me and the whole customer experience thingy. I didn't mark him down at all as on the whole he was a decent person to deal with. Apparently they do take it seriously if you give them a poor score.

I find email is effective

do you have a card from the said salesperson? does it have an email address on?

if not next time you ring ask for it, if no joy just ask the person who answered the phone politely "how do I make a formal complaint"

I may well be a grumpy old man.........

....in fact there's no doubt about it, but if I'd rung numerous times and not had the courtesy of a return call then I would, without doubt, have the 'ump by now.

As has been mentioned if you've given the salesperson several chances to call you back and they've totally ignored you then, yes, I'd be wanting a manager on the phone....and if the manager, (or whatever they call themselves), didn't respond within a reasonable time then I'd be working my way up the chain of command (at this stage, by email rather than phone) until such time as someone COULD be bothered to ring me back.  If they were quick enough to take your money then they can, at least, maintain a bit of courteous contact with you. As it happens, I don't always find "Customer Service" "representatives" come across too well, but if I really do have a legitimate grumble and feel I've been taken for a ride then I find you can, with a bit of research, get to speak to someone with enough clout to at least listen and make the right noises and get something done.  You might not make yourself popular but they won't forget you. Notwithstanding all the aforegoing I've had some excellent service from salesmen, with whom it has been a pleasure to give money ....and some less so...but what you're saying is plain bad manners and unprofessional.

Sometimes nothing beats taking a nice stroll down to the dealership itself. then they cant ignore you

Go online on the dealers website, sometimes they have a live chat function available

Im finding similar with my dealer :( all very good then paperwork signed and hasnt got back to me about barely anything ive asked. I've had to email again and or call up. He is slightly better about calling me back if he is busy but def dont hold my breath. Currently waiting for him to get back to me about why my car wont even be built on the date when he promised me I would have collected the vehicle by...........

I'd suggest cancelling like Goldfinger suggests.

A nice 200-mile stroll

Haha I thought that too :D

I generally find that companies never phone you back.  On saying that I had no trouble with my Skoda dealer, but certainly experienced this type of thing with the Dacia dealer when buying the car for my Dad.

I never understand how people stand for this when you want to pay them thousands.  I ran a newsagents for a few years selling items for 30p and 50p and yet i treated everyone like kings and queens, which is why the same customers bought off me every day.

If i go into a car showroom and get ignored,i walk out.If a salesman does not phone back,i do not phone him.He has lost the sale.Of course i understand its harder once you have paid a deposit, but as others have said i would e.mail him to cancel the order, and give your business to someone who knows how to treat a customer.

I never chase firms when i am about to spend money with them. I expect them to chase me,and if they do not, then they have lost my business and i go somewhere else.

I always laugh now thinking back to my youth when my friends and myself would go to bars and clubs. Sometimes the door staff did not want us to come in,giving some stupid reason like its a private party,or we had the wrong colour shoes on,and we would beg and argue to be let in. I cant believe we were infact saying please let me spend my money in this place....Crazy...No way would i do that today.  I would say if this place does not want  my money thats fine.Thank goodness there are hundreds of venues that are only too happy for my custom.

It is just the same with car dealers or service staff. They get one chance with me,and one only. There are always other dealers in each town. The ones who know how to treat a customer are the ones who get my business.

My car is getting built next week, wonder if the dealer will give me a call to confirm?.Lets wait and see.

I did eventually get a call but I was in an area of poor reception so lost connection. Had no further calls since then.

It wouldn't bother me but its not like its a 5 minute drive to pick the car up...

According to the message the dealer left me, my car is now there! What's worse is that there were only 5 minutes yesterday when my phone had no signal and that's when he phoned!

However he said can i come down and sign the finance paperwork (im getting it on a PCP)and then arrange a collection date. I don't want to make 2 350 mile round trips if I don't have to and when I bought the car over the phone I was told I would have to come in early to sign and then could collect the car later in the day.

I've tried to phone back and clarify but typically the salesman is not at his desk...

I bought mine from Bournemouth and I live in Sheffield

I signed and collected all in one

No need for 2 visits

Thanks for that news. That's what I hoped for!

Finally sorted am picking the car up next week. :D

Only thing g is I don't like the reg no. I've been given, lol. Looks like a private plate come April hahaha.

Wait till you get a request to give a satisfaction survey on the dealer. Anything less than a 4 out of five and the dealer gets worried for his bonus. I would suggest a one or two for the dealer treatment?
