Octavia II - VCDS - 09-Cont. Elect. Control Module

As far as I’m aware, the 09-Cent. Elect. Control Module is one of the most complex available in a regular Octavia configuration.

 

It also happens to be the one more often refereed here at Briskoda since it holds the most delicious bits of customization available.

 

I don’t know about you but I get nervous every time I connect VCDS and so tend to speed up the process leaving little time to learn about its capabilities and complexity.

 

Activating the cornering lights was my first attempt to customize my so far completely stock Octavia Combi 1.6 TDI MY2011 Elegance and it took about eight incursions to get what I wanted.

 

For instance, somehow, while attempting this activation, my DRLs changed from the fog lights cluster (PY21W SLL lamps) to the low-beam (H7 lamps).

 

I guess some options are dependent or can conflict with others so you should analyze the implications of chain events before submitting the code.

 

Also, to ease diagnostics, never perform changes in batches, this way you will be unable to know which option generated an error.

 

Everything is now working like it should but I was left with the urge to explore this tool more thoroughly and to create a point of reference to witch we all could contribute with our knowledge.

 

I’m aware there must be some differences between models/equipment/countries that could turn this analysis too complex, so I urge you not to use these elements lightly. Always perform a Auto-Scan prior to any change and save it in a safe place.

 

My changes so far:

Byte 14 - Bit 7 - Cornering Lights via Front Fog Lights active

Byte 15 - Bit 6 - Daytime Running Lights (DRL) via separate Lights active

 

Tried, but failed:

Byte 4 - Bit 3 - Mirror Lowering with Reverse Rear

(It ended creating an error due to some element not being installed or not having activated a dependent option)

 

Will do:

Byte 26 - Bit 6 - Enabling Cornering Light with Reverse Gear active

(Every time I’m in reverse all fog lights turn on, I guess this will disable it)
