The wheels have definitely improved the appearance

  • But as long as he drives with his seat anything like upright then he won't look like a Hackney badboi... Presumably it's taxed insured and MOT'd and the same can't be said about the urban gangstas f

  • Beat me to it again Richard... LOLOL

The colour looks really nice, I can see subtle differences in the pictures.

Whats the plan? Slightly bigger wheels needed IMO...

The plan....

Msport multi-function wheel

Msport leather interior

Eibach sportline springs

18" bmw alloys in a light grey colour, not yet decided if i want the msport ones or the optional ellipsoid ones

Chop off the horrible downturned tail pipe and fit a twin exit stainless number

Get a blufin remap for it

Thats all i want really, probably get the wheels in 3/4 weeks once i come back from holiday! (Going the the singapore grand prix :) )

These are the 2 wheel options i have in mind, i definately dont want to chav the car so its bmw wheels only imo

First up the Ellipsoid 18's

C942CEBE-FE3B-41E1-8BED-1FE8B400DDFF-291

And the msport mv3 18's

1FBC6426-6BE7-4781-A000-CBD09C3569EF-291

Atm im swaying more towards the non msport ellipsoid wheels, for 2 reasons really - the price (1/2 that of msport ones) and i dont want my car to be an msport replica

And finally an example of what i want... Well mine will sit a little lower

^ thats the same colour as mine - just a different light

The elipsoids look quite good but the mv3 alloys help give a more aggressive look

Ellipsoid all the way. Those msport ones don't look nice imo.

I'm having the same debate with my 740i. If I keep it then it needs new wheels as the 16's on it are too small. I fancied some style 32's but they are stupid money. Want to keep with the OEM look too. I'd choose the M Sports :)

Agree on Ellipsoid too - look far nicer, and less common.

Also on the tailpipe, a twin affair similar to the 330d/330i would look spot-on. Also a nice 'flick' spoiler on the bootlid like that USA example above.

  • 3 weeks later...

New tailpipe is on! Im unsure if its too big or not

Also got my plate on!

Bidding on some wheels on ebay so hopefully own them by the end of the day

New wheels with bridgestone potenza runflats!

Bargain at £250 me thinks

Loads better with the newer wheels

Maybe needs a slight drop (doing that anyway?) as the wheel>arch gap looks a bit bigger now?

Pipe looks a bit strange because I'm used to seeing it with a different rear bumper design! Does look OEM though.

M-Sport rear bumper and you'd be laughing :D

Yes i like how the rear sits but as standard bmw thought the reverse rake look was cool :o for whatever stupid reason

I will be going for eibach pro springs which should sit it nicely!

Also i fancy getting the wheels done a shadow chrome sort of colour!

I know i said i didnt want msport wheels but at the price it was a no brainer

Rear tyres have went from 205's to 255's :o

They look like the E46 compact Msport wheels

I think they are similar but maybe an updated design

They are E90 17" msport alloys as seen here

I think these are the ones you mean

Similar but slightly nicer imo

Beware of the timing chain issue

Thats only on the newer 177bhp engines, i have the older 163bhp non dpf engine (yes im aware they supposedly have weaker turbo's and swirl flaps)

Any positive comments?

Edited by BigJase88

Looks great jase :) new wheels suit it well

The swirl flap can be blanked anyway :)

Yeah i see that but im seriously lacking motivation right now!

Supposedly the ones on my engine aren't the troublesome ones that like to eat engines but would be peace of mind removing them anyways

Probably next summers job im thinking

Yeah definitely a better weather job :)

Siiiiiiick. This is my joint favourite of your cars (Yellow Fabia ties with it) Nice, smooth, comfortable and looks good too. I recently borrowed a mate's 320d. Lush, drove so nice, perfect all rounder IMO. He's is the M sport, I liked the chunky wheel and seats but I'd have to ditch the run flats (guessing yours doesnt have that issue)

Subtle drop and the other bits you listed and it'll be perfect. Keep us updated.

I was going to ditch the runflats but now im not so sure

I needed 1 new tyre which was either £150 for a run flat or it was going to be £450 for swapping them all out....

.... I opted for the runflat :(

Its not really a backroad beater anyways. It's not much fun as the runflats make it horrible, the suspension is also rather sloppy

Next mod will be eibachs but as were supposedly due a crumby winter i may hold off on it just now!

I've also been notified there are some rear lights available called blacklines (bloody internet forums) so i guess they'll be added to the evergrowing list!

Exactly the same happened to my mate. He got a puncture and had the same dilemma, went for the same option too, catch 22 lol.
