Richard's GT-R thread, old and new!

I've been drooling over the new M2 (it seems the perfect car for me) and it not only is a third of a ton heavier, but has around half the power of the above!! Perhaps you can't have too much of a good thing, but it can scare the bejesus out of you if you don't know what you are doing :D looking forward to the videos :)

  • A few pics of the deeper red colour when the sun is down, brothers in arms.

  • Right.   I gave myself a good talking to and popped out for a little bonding with the new car.   Holy moley it's even more bonkers than I remember the last ones being. Yes, they have worked a lot

My R32 should be finished today.

Was just waiting on the air filters (which should have arrived Monday) and a little welding on the turbo water lines.

Fingers crossed it'll be mapped in a day or so.

As usual focusing on drivability, rather than outright power.

The very top end might be a little limited by the fuel pump too, but no time to sort that before an event at the weekend.

Have you thought of doing what the Bloodhound 1,000mph lot are doing for their fuel pump? Simply install a Jaguar V8 to squirt the petrol in and underfueling will no longer be a problem. Hth

I always thought they were going to use a V8 F1 engine to pump the fuel! Maybe the accountants stepped in on that one... :giggle:

I thought they changed it for the Jag supercharged one? I read something about it when I put my brothers name on the Fin recently. It says something when they have a fuel pump that's significantly more powerful than my car's engine.

They must have done! As I'm sure the original plan was for an F1 engine, which got my attention!

Can't wait to see how this performs :)

The photos taken in the above link are truly stunning :) but is there a video of it in RWD form hammering around a circuit anywhere?

So... on Friday night this happened. :peek:

Put down a deposit on the RK Tuning R32 GT-R.

700bhp + 1,100kg.  Sequential gearbox.  Dry Sump.  Huge brakes.

This thing is a legend in Skyline circles. I remember this going up again "Rockett Ronnie's" R33 at the Ten of the Best competitions years ago. You've just bought a bit of GTR history and i'm rather jealous!

That must be hysterical in RWD form and downright attention grabbing to drive in the wet!!!!!!

I watched Jenson Button driving Rally-Cross cars and giggling like a small child that just found out his cupboard was a secret doorway to the local Video game shop's store room. I imagine you will make similar noises and expression when driving this :)

  Although I did find myself wishing that Pat had decided to have a few laps in his Fiesta, to show JB the difference between that BMW MAXI and an actually fast car.

Isn't 600bhp in a rear engine beetle considered a fast any more?    I NEED MORE POWER!!!!

Seriously. Top class Rallycross cars are actually faster than Formula 1 cars from 0 to 100 in a straight line (and round Rallycross tracks).

It was a fantastic day :) the R32 is seriously quick

Very enjoyable day. Some serious cars there being driven how they were intended. The launch on the R32 is mind blowing.

Those wheels look so much better. I know everyone will say lower it more but that splitter is pretty close to the ground, and I bet they aren't cheap to replace.

Plan sounds great. For some reason I thought you were getting 2 white ones

When I was at Snetterton a few weeks back I ran my Nankangs and they were fine.
But when it got damp (and it was very slippery!) the car became a bit of a handful with it's instant torque at almost any RPM, 680bhp and mostly rear drive layout.

I'm back at Snetterton Monday, so just in case and taking a set of wets.
ROTAS!

If it's dry I want to try a set of A048s as they are great on the Yeti and Fiesta.
Got a third set of rims (RAYS Gramlights)

I think they look OK, but I can't believe when you buy the wheels you don't get spigot rings or centre caps!
What utter wazzocks!
They want you to order them separately and pay more for them.

Fortunately my Rotas came with spigot rings (and centre caps) so I can fit the RAYS too.

Still got the BBS rims for road use.

Power is nothing without control! :p

Need a support vehicle to transport all your wheels :)
