  • A few pics of the deeper red colour when the sun is down, brothers in arms.

  • Right.   I gave myself a good talking to and popped out for a little bonding with the new car.   Holy moley it's even more bonkers than I remember the last ones being. Yes, they have worked a lot

Very very nice car . My gfs boss just bought the 570s looks class. What's the difference between the 570s and yours?

According to the top gear magazine I'm just reading:

Incredible cars both of them!

But I still love the looks of an R34 ;)

..about two skyliners..lol

I got the 650 purely as it was 10 months old with £40k of options for the price of a new lightly specced 570.

So seemed a good call.

I couldn't justify new.

Mine was £70k under new price due to all the options.

But now it should hold value quite well as initial depreciation out of the way.

£40K of options...that's the trouble with super cars.....mere trifling options cost HOW Fecking much???

Anyway your explanation of your Phd level man maths does make sense in a scary way....

Just imagine the comma is a decimal point & the numbers don't look so big....

I like the plate...

I was thinking you bought a MC65 O?? type plate, but realised yours is 15 car so can't use a newer date

Slight upgrade from the last car running that plate! :D

I love it.

Fairplay Richard!

Bloody hell, what a lovely looking motor. I didn't even know what one of these cars was until I saw this thread last night... and low and behold I had the pleasure of following one between jn 20 and 16 this morning on the M1! Was a maroon colour. I expected them to be much bigger in the flesh, was quite surprised how small and nimble looking it was.

Orange & black - best colour combo - stunning :)

That looks incredible on the track :)

Stunning. Simply stunning.

Good for you.

Good work on the 650S Richard, ignore any haters (not that you'll see any here), hard work deserves rewards and you only live once.

How do you find a bona-fide supercar holds up against a heavily tuned sports car like a GT-R, be very interested to know your thoughts?

Do you think the 570 may be a more "fun" car then? Being a little less fast

It's still a road car.

Would rather drive one of the Tin Tops in a race.

Ah fair enough :)

It's an amazing bit of kit and is incredibly fast.

My R32 GT-R (runs 680bhp) and Yeti (ran 510bhp) both get up to about 120-125mph on the short straight at Brands.

I was getting 140mph almost every lap in the McLaren once I was used to it.

Put simply it's faster than you can explain, but then it does do a claimed 60mph in 3 seconds and takes just 5.8 to hit 100mph.

The mid range and top end shove is immense.

But as nice as it is, it's an incredibly well designed bit of kit.

Yes, it's a lot of fun, but it's arguably too fast.

I've had more fun in my 23 year old tuned Skyline and also in a cheaper Tin Tops racing car.

Because you can get them close to the limit without having to go so fast.

I guess part of the appeal is the sense of occasion, it's a bright orange McLaren after all.

People take videos and pictures as you drive about, ask you to rev it etc...

But at the end of the day it's a car.

A nice and incredibly fast car, but it's made to work on the road so while it might be faster I'm not convinced it's more fun than something more race oriented.

Cheers Richard that all makes a lot of sense...sense of occasion and it just being a McLaren are the main things I am sure.

Just watched the video Richard...I love that you've tracked it already...and how nice does it sound for a heavily turbo'd car!!!

Once you go past the GT-R you really get a sense of how quick the thing is too, impressed with the driving too.
