The colour choice dilemma - how big a risk is non-metallic paint? Or Jungle Green?!

Featured Replies

White is very good - never looks dirty until it really is dirty, unlike black that shows every biy of dust and every mark you left when washing it.  Black also gets very hot in the sun (OK I know there isn't much of that about) and probably deteriorates faster because of that.  Red looks superb but does look a bit like a fire-engine. Old reds used to go matt pink but they claim modern ones don't.

We have decided to order jungle green after watching the new yeti advert online several times. Our current yeti is muscovado which I love but the wife prefered our first yeti in candy white. I do think the white looks amazing but as I like to keep my car clean I find the muscovado much easier to clean! I was forever applying tardis tar remover to the white. My dad mentioned the green car blending into the green surroundings but I figured its similar to the muscovado as it could blend in to ploughd fields. We have went for jungle green, matterhorn wheels and black roof. Still may change roof back to green?!

Red is definitely best.

Silver, grey or black is boring (IMO).

White was my second choice. I've had two red fabia vrs's and the paint was as good as new even after 6 years. Doesn't show the dirt and even with a quick 10min wash came up like new.

but don't you think "standing out" is better to be safer in traffic?

Because of the black plastic covers maybe it's better to have lighter color for a contrast effect.

I suspect you're right about that.  Brighter colours (white, silver etc) are much more visible in poor light conditions, and that's one of the things that concerns me about Jungle Green.  Cars in colours like that tend to be far less visible as they approach you.

A dilemma.  Nice new Yeti on order, safe colour option Brilliant Silver metallic.

But...........it's a little bit boring - I think the Yeti looks best in white or red!

Red would be first choice, but I hear bad things about non-metallic paint.  Resale affected (not too much of a problem, as we're planning to keep it a while).  Also potential fading.  Plus not likely to last as well, or as well protected against the elements.  Or is all this a load of hogwash?

Jungle Green looks fine, I think, but it's impossible to be sure until the first cars arrive.  It could be awful!

And Moon White?  White looks good, and it's highly popular at the moment - trouble is, the family all hate it!

Help!!!

You've got to live with the car and as you say resale doesn't bother you too much (I don't think it will affect it that much) you should go with the colour you really want. The red does look really nice, I saw a 13 plate with a roof box over on the Isle of Wight two weeks ago and it did look good, but saying that I haven't really seen a colour I didn't like. I've seen a white and a silver adventure and the white did look nicer in my opinion.

Nice Etivman.

I was going to wait for the FL but decided I liked the current shape of the front end better. The FL, although a nice car, looks like every other SUV out there. The current shape can only be a Yeti, it's quite distinctive.

I don't think silver is all that "bright".  It's basically shiny grey, and if the light conditions are poor then there's nothing to pick up the shine.  We get quite a lot of fog round here (the famous Edinburgh haar) and silver cars practically disappear in conditions like that (especially when the more dimwitted drivers forget to turn their headlights on).

IMO if light conditions are poor enough for the colour of your car to make a significant difference to its conspicuity, you should have your lights on anyway...

The lighter the colour, the more solid pigment is in the paint. Hence, white is the most durable.

Same colour/wheel option as my order (1.2 TSI DSG ). Colour looks much better on the swatch than on the configurator though.

White all the way

I don't get why the color palette is so sparse... why there is no yellow, orange???

I'd take yellow in a sec

In Europe there are dozens of colours - it's Skoda UK deciding what we want for us.

That jungle green with black wheels looks ace.

I don't think colour affects resale value that much any more - we as a nation are more used to more interesting colours. Shocking pink might take a bit more shifting, but anything remotely ordinary should sell OK.

I'd like a full-on orange.

Mine is Brilliant silver, fewer washes as it blends dust and grime into its colour.Easy to keep in good condition.Never waxed in over two years and still keeping its name.

Brilliant Silver.

Agree with this ,,, it's strange there are so few colours. Although tbh I had enought trouble making my mind up from the few options there are now !

Magnetic Brown :-)

My previous Yeti was tangerine - a super colour - pity it was dropped from the colour options.

We both have red and don't care about resale etc...

Strong colours suit the styling IMO.

When my wife's last red one went in part exchange it sold the first morning it went on sale at the full asking price.

Thanks to this video, kindly posted in another thread, my mind is now made up - Jungle Green it is.  Thanks for all the comments and advice, though.

Jungle Green for me as well, although there was never any doubt in my mind that this colour would suit the "Outdoor" Yeti.

Seeing the colour for real on a car made our choice (well ok, her choice). It may have been on a Rapid but Cappuccino is what we are going with.

There was Mucovado, dark blue, black and white Yetis but none impressed. As someone has mentioned red did seem a little PO van in the configurator, but since seen one on the road and looks fine.

Ha Ha. Red is most definitely Postman Pat-ish but still my preferred colour.

The green looks good, but nit the silly white mirrors.

Mirrors are silver, but yes they look horrid on the Green.

I think they're to match the roof.
